How long is the wait for a new PIP claim decision?

I put in a claim which was received on 4th May.

Overall it's currently taking about 10 months from putting in a claim to getting a decision letter, & you could be waiting a few months until you have an assessment as most people have them.

First time claims do tend to have priority, as those waiting for a reassessment will already be receiving some money.

Yes if you are awarded PIP then it is backdated to the date of you initial claim date!

Hi @JessFM - If it's a first claim, then if you get awarded PIP, monies will be payable from the date of your initial telephone call re: PIP.

Hi Jess, I initially rung PIP on 10th January 2022, spoke to someone and was sent a form to fill in. Filled it in sent it back. Then had my telephone assessment April 27th and received my decision on the 11th May. I was awarded living component after scoring 12 points, which I thought would have been higher and scored 10 out of 12 for mobility so I was awarded standard rate, to get high rate mobility you have to have a cognitive impairment, ie, hearing, sight, communication difficulties or have overwhelming psychological mental health issues that stop,you,from being able to plan and follow a journey. So all in all it took 17 weeks and they backdated my money to January 10th x. Oh yes, I was awarded PIP for 2 and a half years . Hope you don’t wait too long x

That is such a long wait but it is what it is i suppose. Did you get about 10k im guessing? X
