Burning 🔥 Tongue Syndrome

Persianprincess69 profile image

I am in despair with burning 🔥 tongue Syndrome. I have had if for the last 3 years & can’t eat spicy food, minty things, wine.....& the list goes on.

I was diagnosed with fibro 9 years ago after many many years of suffering.

Does anyone else suffer from this & does anyone have any advice to help it?

My tongue is constantly sore and doesn’t look very ‘pretty’

I would love if someone could help me. 🙏🏽

Hugs to you all,

Leeza 💐

Was anything in your previous post healthunlocked.com/fibromya... of help. I was going to suggest sjogrends but that was covered in the last post. What does your GP say?

Have you tried P-5-P?

I have same issue, was prescribed Difflum mouthwash from the Ear Nose and Throat hospital, does not get rid of it but does calm down the symptoms. Hope this helps.

Difflam today is not the Difflam of old though. The old version could actually numb your mouth, tongue, and gums. Just like a visit to the dentist.

Unfortunately the current stuff is not as strong, so doesn't do much for my burning mouth, tongue, and throat.

Have you had a blood test to check your B12 levels? Low B12 is often a cause of a sore, burning and scalloped tongue. By scalloped, I mean the edges are rough. It can also be a bit swollen and easy to catch with your teeth.

Interesting. Mine goes scalloped on and off - totally whimsical. And only happens for an hour or two at a time. I’ve never gotten to the bottom of it. But I do have an inflammatory form of arthritis so I’ve always assumed it’s just another dodgy body part 😂

I get exactly the same thing but I have burning mouth syndrome. Tongue, gums, teeth and roof of mouth. I was told it was probably hormonal and could last weeks or years and be constant or come and go but offered no medication. After months of searching I came across alpha lipoic acid several times. ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl... I got doctors best ala 600mg from the internet and within a couple of days it was gone. wow relief. It came back the next day so I continued to take the tablets and that kept it away. Did this for a couple of weeks and then stopped and I have been fine for a couple of years until recently it started again. I dug out the old pills nearly 3 years out of date. I remembered they gave me a headache so I opened the capsule and discarded a little and closed up the capsule and swallowed it. After a couple of hours I had relief again. So now I take at the first sign of trouble. Give it a try. By the way don’t be tempted to empty the contents of the capsule on food or directly into your mouth. It will burn your oesophagus.

Itchy gob, I too can not touch anything nice. Spicy a d strong flavours are out, often quicker than they go in. But I get itchy mouth and it feels like it is inside the bones and teeth and I can not get at it. I use a strong mouthwash. It is very burny for a while but I get some relief from the itching. Ice-cream works too but it takes about a kilo to work, not good for my figure. Funny how most people can recount something similar.

Hi,

If it helps at all my entire mouth feels like it's burnt after I take sumatriptan. This happens every time I take one, said perhaps it could be a medication that you're taking?

Hope you feel better soon 💕
