burning tongue

recently my usual anti inflammatory tablets were not available so they switched me to CELECOXIB. There is a side effect where you can get sores in your mouth. It did seem like I had small ulcers at tip of tongue but my whole mouth burned and the side of my tongue looked bumpy and swollen slightly. I went to dentist she said probably side effect. I have been stopped the tablets 3 weeks now but my tongue is still burning. It’s very uncomfortable to eat or drink anything but water. It has improved slightly but I definitely thought it should be better by now. I’ve tried the last 3 days to get a doctors appointment but despite calling numerous times the line is busy so thought I would ask on here 🙂 thank you

Hi Danlos166I hope you get an appointment soon.

I often have a cycle of ulcers and sore mouth when over tired or stressed.

They usually begin to heal in 4-5 days.

When gut is poorly they are worse.

Maybe change of meds unbalanced your body.

Best to see GP,

So hard to get answers when GP so busy.

Take care

Gigi

Sorry to hear your feelings these symptoms. While your waiting to get your appointment with your GP have a word with a Pharmacist who should be able advise you what to take to support your symptoms to heal your mouth. You could call 111 who will arrange for you to talk to your doctor or a doctor 🤔. Keep using a good mouth wash to support your painful mouth.

Stay strong 💪 and big hugs 🫂 🤗 xx

Rinse with salt water. ( boiled first, then cooled) best mouth wash for healing and cleaning. Forget all your commercial brands, full of chemicals. Every 1 or 2 hours. Hope this helps

Thank you for taking the time to reply. If I can’t get through tomorrow I will ring 111. I have been using ambesol gel which has helped slightly xx

Are you deficient in any vitamins or minerals, like C and D? Do you eat fruits very often? If you haven't had labs for these done, I would ask your provider for them to be done.
