It depends on the noise with me .... For example, if I'm in a room with several conversations going on I really struggled with noise sensitivity .... But I can go to a concert with thousands of people and not be bothered at all.

Certain pitches of sounds also bother me more than others

I do read here on the forum that many members do have sensitivity to loud noises, I must admit I cannot tolerate loud noise like I used too, whether it’s related to fibro I couldn’t say, and I’ve loss of hearing now with certain tones, my husband waits till I’m out of the way before he turns up his music😂😂but I call it men s choice as rock bands /indie I do not find pleasant but thats personal choice, I will read with interest other people’s replies, Sunday’s can be quiet on the forum but hopefully some replies will start to filter in soon .

I only realised I had a noise sensitivity a couple of years ago, when I went to a musical. Whenever the singing reached a certain pitch, I was flinching. The singing itself was great! It's been suggested to me, that this is more a symptom of M.E than Fibro. I believe some people who have Fibro have also been diagnosed with M.E, but it's extremely difficult to differentiate between the two as the symptoms are so similar.

I have me/cfs ,sleep apnea as well ,the 3 of them together not a good combination, but I take each day and make the most of everything , yes it was hard to get the diagnosis separately I found , I do find flashing lights ie on the TV I have to look away , I differently think this is sensitivity due to fibromyalgia .

I'm a musician with slight hearing loss in one ear. I can't stand loud noises. If I go to a (non-rock!) concert I sometimes have to cover my ears until I adjust to the blast of sound. Also - my grandaughter had a party at one of those jungle gyms, I had to leave

Yes, noise really gets to me. Even just background noise I find quite tiring. It’s like a sensory overload.

Can’t cope at all when there are multiple conversations going on. And my boyfriend and I really struggle to find a happy medium in terms of the TV volume. I would ideally like it on about 8...he wants it on 30 🙂

On really bad days, I do need time in the bedroom just to lie down in the dark and pop my noise cancelling earbuds in. Bliss!

Yes, most surely noise creates tension and that gives pain. I love my grandchildren but have to say 'little voices' when they start to shout and shriek. I use hearing aids and need volume to hear some noise.

Yes my ears are very sensitive to noise. I'm constantly telling people to keep their voices down.

Absolutely the same i find myself missing parts of conversations and just smile I'm sure I must smile inappropriately sometimes but get embarrassed asking people to say again but loud noise shouting whistling loud music etc feels very bad I wish you the best

Im very noise sensitive. Especially at night, it severely effects my insomnia. I'm so bad with noise it dictates our ability to go on holiday bc I'm neurotic about it and can have full scale meltdowns where we have to leave. I also have never been able to sleep with either of my children in the room, my husband has not been away for 1 night in 6 years bc I can't look after them at night poor thing.

I'm reasonably alright with natural noise like storms things like that but noises made by people or machines I'm really bad with. I have chronic migraines though which doesn't help. I once had a hearing test bc I couldn't hear my friend who mumbles a lot and then gets angry if you don't understand him. The guy who took my test said my hearing was off the charts. He said you have 10/10 hearing a bit light 20/20 vision anything below 10 is good hearing, he said mine was in minus range and so they couldn't fit it on the charts, he couldn't understand why I wanted a hearing test.

There are also some medications that increase hearing. I was put on one of them once when I was younger and my mum took me to the doctor because I was driving her crazy.,

I suffer with noise sensitivity but I like my music loud? The TV I can’t have too loud and persistent tapping, knocking or banging drives me insane. Too many people talking all at once just sends me into a frenzy and those tannoy things in a supermarket just make me want to run away (if only I could run)!!

Can be a sign of imbalance between sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system functions. Well worth reading Datis Kharrazian's 'Why Isn't My Brain Working?'. Best wishes

Hi yes I do mine started nearly a year ago. I’m fine if I’m out and about but ppl raising their voices or constantly making similar noises like tapping etc it drives me up wall. I did inform my rhemy doctor when at my 2nd off last appointment and again when saw her in Dec. She just said oh so it’s not gone. I said no its still same and she said some ppl do seem to have it. See you next time lol

I have permanant tinnitus. If my other fibro symptoms are bad so is my sensitivity to light and sound. If i start getting stressed or anxious same thing happens

Yes, I can tolerate some noises better than others, which isn't easy to get through to people and I'm having to move as my present property is no longer suitable, but I can't get it through to housing that I need somewhere quiet, they seem to think I'm being fussy, but if I end up somewhere with noisy neighbours, trains close by or any other noises I struggle with, my life won't be good.
