light and noise

hi just wondered if any one else with fibro has become over sencitive to light and cant tolorete noise it drives me mad .x

yes i sound like a right one on here.but i also suffer with this light sensitive,noise sensitive,smells are alleviated bad too.

cant go to pubs or clubs now.

and am tolerant to alcohol too so dont drink.x

I can hear wrist watches ticking at times and it drives me mad!!!! The constant tick tick!!! I also can hear other noises that i shouldnt be hearing like high pitched noises etc You are not alone in this!!!!!

yep sounds like me i prefer the quiet and a dark room with just a lamp cant stand bright lights, even smells too.. xx

yep i have this too, very rare i have tele on now and if iam in bed and son is cooking i tell him to shut all the doors as the smell makes me feel sick. if there are kids playing in the street i have to shut bedroom window and i used to love to hear the little ones playing out side, plzed you brought this up thort it was just me x

yes i suffer with this . sometimes cant bear walking down the street too much activity and noise and this is so alien to me as ive had 7 kids and always had busy , noisy lifestyle , I only like lamps on when it gets dark , tv does my head in sometimes , ive had to start listening to soothing music on my headphones on the bus so i dont have to listen to chatter. I thought i was just becoming a grumpy old ( mmmm middle aged )women x

I am hypothyroid (4 years now) and it was recently suggested by my GP that I also may have Fybromyalgia. I am very sensitive to noise and smells. Hubby and son can hardly hear the TV and I am forever telling them to turn it down... especially when the adverts come on. I never turn the TV or radio on when I am home alone. The birds are extremely noisy with their dawn chorus and I now close the window where as before I used to open it wider so I could hear them... I thought this was yet another symptom of being Hypo but maybe it is a symptom of FM ........... or maybe both.

Good to know I am not alone (or going mad)

Hi I am sensitive to both light and noise, cant stand anything loud and noisy and outdoors i have to close my eyes to shut out the sunlight it hurts my eyes . big soft hugs xx

sunshine really hurts my eyes makes me squint and they water, not so sensitive with noise or smells though xx

"Hyper-sesitivity" is common with Fibro. I hate loud noises, bright sunlight and my sense of smell is amazing!!

As if by magic, the baby in the waiting room I'm working in started squealing as I read this question! Yes, noise and light really affect me, and - like SparkyMark - I have a great sense of smell, to the point that I've thought it was olfactory hallucinations because no one else can smell anything!
