Please if you are wanting to talk about covid please discuss here.

Please check this post first: healthunlocked.com/fibromya...

Advice is to follow general government guidance i.e. hand washing and social distancing

fibro is not considered an AI condition. you may have another condition but this is where it is complicated. Majority of people that catch this go through it without going near a hospital. A lot get it and do not know it. But best advice is to not get it by following government advice..

Admin please read before deleting as I feel my worries and others are also important, I do not want to stop using this really helpful site so PLEASE PLEASE don't be bias to others worries, we are an online community after all, some of us house bound already, PLEASE be KIND:

Hi Chillix

Hopefully you will get a response, I would love to know if any extra risks to us having Fibro and Chronic Fatigue. I can se a post on here that says its not an autoimmune disease (even though I have tested positive for autoimmune but tested for a few and then left specialist left it at fibro) I as many others am worried, as when I get ill, does not matter from what, I take longer than others to recover, I presume this is the same for friends on here? so, even though we are not "at any more risk than others" It would be great to know. The links provided to the NHS are welcome honestly, however, they do take me away from this forum as I am redirected, not sure if anyone else is? Why I am worried is that I have a head cold, sniffles and headache and feel like my lungs are burning, I do have stomach ulcers and this is a symptom and they may be flaring up again but it is still a worry. That is what I come on here for, to chat about what is worrying me with regards to my Fibro Myalgia and I notice admin don't really want us to talk a lot about the virus as it detracts from other queries Fibro sufferers may have, however, this is the area I and a few others on here are at the moment worried about. I am working from home at the moment, but do worry as to what to expect if I do get it. I had the Flu before Christmas and trust me, that was hard to get over! Now either it is something to worry about (perhaps as a few countries have closed down this is a clue giver) or it's nothing to worry about! confused.com much. My sickness record is not the best so very worried. Hope you get an answer Chillix :)

Carol if you had an admin query then please pm us and we will answer.

We have created this post to allow discussion. But having 5 posts that say am i at risk in quick succession from different people does not help. Especially when we get 25 different answers.

Thank you for starting the thread Desquinn. Two of my children are doctors. they know I have fibro but I never contact them about it as they are very busy. I find information from people experience of fibro more beneficial and helpful. So this site invaluable, especially at times like this.

may go back through the pinned post and trim replies to keep it clean but not decided on that just yet.

This will come as good news for the community Des. It's so unprecedented, people are looking for a point of familiarity a community they feel safe and can offer each other support and discuss what's happening and what impact it might be having on them. It's also very useful in people offering coping and managing tips while everyone is trying to get through such a big event. Many people are in disbelief because it all seems so surreal. To have a point where people can come together like this will be very helpful in the coming weeks and months. X

Also young people, my mum wasn't aware that my brother who is 46 will be under the same restrictions as she will. H e has MS. They live together. It's a time where we must keep an eye on anyone struggling but at the same time keep ourselves safe. ☺☺

Thank you Des. My husband is high risk so we are self-isolating. As I have mental health problems. it raises issues for me. I have found the advice on mental health on the bbc website very helpful in suggesting how to manage and the one thing I am going to stick to is avoiding looking or listening to the news (they suggest social media as well but not on that!) and follow the guidelines. Going to set up Skype to see my grandchildren and find knitting a great distraction, as are my audio books and the radio.

I am feeling much better now me and my husband are putting things in place. I would suggest for anyone who is stressed or worried, which makes our chronic conditions worse to look for online support from Samaritans or what other services are available. Our mental health is just as important as our physical health.

I hope everyone will keep well.

I think the NHS has suggested some free apps to download to help with anxiety and stress which is such a great idea. Face timing and all this type of technology helps us greatly when we want to see are loved ones who are self isolating. xx

My OH, he is a little bit older than me, he had a heart attack 4 years ago and he doesn't really do stress, I keep having to bring him back down to a rationale level so his fears don't run away with him, that's the biggest fear I think. We all need to stay rationale, that will help although I do realize this may be difficult as things are changing on a daily basis. xxx

Hubby is at higher risk due to his health conditions, but according to the criteria yesterday of anyone who gets offered flu jab being high risk .... I'm in that group too.

We're being careful about social distancing, but will still be going shopping and while office is open, I'll go into work .... We've not been around anyone with symptoms and there are few confirmed cases in our area ... So we are just taking extra precautions and taking care. Common sense has to also come into what is happening XXX

bobbybobb profile image
bobbybobb in reply toHazel_Angelstar

We have decided to do our shopping late at night when hopefully there are less people about. We will try and do our best to keep a safe distance from people. xx

The whatsApp my mum uses that to stay in touch with everyone usually anyway and you appreciate the value of these apps and devices. x

That's it, the advice is out there. It's people's compliance with it. xx

How old is he? so your adult son lives with you, why?

He should appreciate he lives at home and stick to your rules, not risk giving you the coronavirus because he wants to go to the pub

Good for you, be strong make sure he sticks to the rules

I think sometimes you have to lay the law down to make them stop and think. x

Totally mad and everyone seems to have different views of how bad this is, which is totally confusing. Can't understand how some countries shutting down as they are worried and some arn't worried. Very confusing😷😞😒😏

I have a problem. I'm in the high risk category due to age (72). My son has a severe chest infection. As we have recently moved we are trying to register with a new GP surgery, of which there is only one in town. They are insisting we go in person to register, despite the obvious drawbacks of my age and my son's chest infection. You couldn't make it up!

Cheers, Midori

Schools will close in Scotland on Friday, I should imagine we'll get an announcement about the rest of the County today. X

I've read this morning Sainsburys are closing their Cafe & these counters to move those staff members to fill shelves etc to keep shelves filled. 24 hour Tesco stores are closing at 10pm so they can restock shelves. Yes they are trying despite reports of staff being verbally being abused, it's not their fault shelves are empty, it the selfish few determined to have whatever they want & blow the less fortunate and vulnerable.

Exactly. When I got down there (on my own) it was obvious that they could have posted them out, then I could have gathered all the paperwork they needed.

The questions on the form were intrusive to say the least; It wasn't far off things like 'State the colour of your grandmother's underwear on the day she got married!' very tempted to think 'She didn't wear any!' :D

Not to mention the requirement of the Identity Documents they wanted! Talk about paranoia! Photo ID, Birth Certificates, or at least 2 items with name and address! Last time I signed up to a new doctor it was just walk in and say 'I want to register, please!' Now I truly believe in a Dystopian future! 1984, three decades late!

Cheers, Midori

Wow! that's badly thought out! How many of us have to wait for carers to come and get us up?

I've been trying all week to get my mum and brother shopping. There has been no fresh meat, fruit, tins of the basics, cleaning products. I don't want my mum and brother worrying so we see to them first and me and OH will try later in the week, we have been out every day trying to get the things mum needs. A nightmare. I am so pleased they have started with restrictions, better late than never I guess. xx

Early am is best for Tesco, I don't know about the other supermarkets though.

bobbybobb profile image
bobbybobb in reply toMidori

I was all over the place the other day, all the major stores, then ended up running round small shops. I'm so glad the supermarkets are now doing something about it. xx

bobbybobb profile image

yes we got them earlier in the week, no one to go to the surgery, only phone consultations, prescriptions online. x

Someone made a good point about schools, when did they ever become day care, they are places of learning, not baby sitting center's. I thought that was a good point. xx

desquinn profile image

and now the OoSCs and nurseries will remain open to vulnerable kids as well as key workers like nurses, drs, police etc.... There are always unintended consequences to these decisions.

bobbybobb profile image
bobbybobb in reply todesquinn

There are no easy answers to any of this at the moment only hard decisions I feel. I do have confidence that people will adjust quickly to whatever situation they are in and adapt for the time being because they know, that is what is required to get us through this rough patch. x

Midori profile image
Midori in reply todesquinn

Yep; it's the price we pay for civilisation, supposedly.

Sorry, I'm feeling a little jaded after my stint with the GP surgery this morning. It made me feel guilty for daring to apply to join their Surgery, and the receptionist was really like a police officer, no 'I'll get these photocopied', she just walked off without a word. Really rude.

Cheers, Midori

bobbybobb profile image
bobbybobb in reply toMidori

Did you manage to get registered with them. No excuse for being rude to you. That can just really upset your day. xx

Midori profile image
Midori in reply tobobbybobb

Yes, but I felt really degraded afterwards. I was a nurse, but I was made to feel a nuisance.

The way they behaved was like in one of those really high end Boutiques, as if you don't deserve to be there.

If it wasn't the only surgery in town I'd go somewhere else!

Midori profile image
Midori in reply toMidori

My son appears to have turned the corner, although his sputum is still foul. I now seem to be coming down with something chesty too.

Just what we didn't need, and I've probably left a germ donation at the GP surgery. (Tole 'em I did! Silly butters!)

Cheers, croakily,

Midori

I'm glad to see children who get free school meals who won't be in school, provisions have been made for them. That must have been a big worry for parents with low income. xx

Yes I seen quite a lot of that about, I first heard about it a couple of weeks ago and thought it must be fake. x
