Although the two symptoms can be, and probably are, related, it makes more sense to try to treat them as separate events. For the acid at nights, if you don't get it during the day at all, then you need to raise your head when in bed. To do this get two sheets of wood, about 2-4 inches thick and place them under the head end of your bed, which will raise your head, so that it is higher than your feet. If you continue to get acid at night, then contact your GP or GI team, and ask for something like Omeprazole or another PPI.

In order to resolve constipation, it is necessary to retrain your body, so the following will help:- Do not eat peanuts, sweetcorn, Brussel sprouts or baked beans. Do eat 2 Kiwi fruits per day. Do not drink fizzy drinks or alcohol. Do drink at least 2 litres of water per day. Do try to walk about 2 miles per day, if possible, and try not to take any form of analgesia (pain killers). Good luck, and let us know how you get on.

Sorry, I missed that one, (does that qualify me as a consultant?--Not reading the notes properly lol). As far as nausea is concerned, try sucking mints or drinking mint tea, to keep your mouth feeling fresh and minty is a good way to reduce nausea.

Haha it's okay I'll give the mint tea A go lol

mint tea did not work for me, it made my acid reflux 10 times worse but drinking fresh ginger tea is goo for you. If I am lazy I have ginger powder but not as good as fresh ginger and extremely useful for constipation 🧐🤓

Have you had your gall bladder removed? When I had to vomit to ease pain that was a diagnostic point for gallstones, according to my doctor.

Hi - Are you taking meds for your fibro? its possible its those causing this problem, opiates like codeine or tramadol and ibuprofen can cause this, talk to your g.p soon and ask him about whats called a PPI (proton pump inhibitor) it lines your gullett and stomach, if he will give you some you should be able to eat and drink almost anything ( vindaloo excluded)!!

Hi pregablin and duloxeteine only but ive had these syptoms before those meds ill ask about ppi !hopefully they work pretty quickly lol

Acid reflux is often due to low stomach acid

healthygut.com/articles/3-t...

Important to test vitamin D, folate, B12 and ferritin levels.

PPI like omeprazole, is to treat high acid and lowers vitamin levels

Do you find any foods make you nauseous? Some of us have mild intolerances (not allergies, unless diagnosed) to certain foods.

I have recently had problems with oats, wheat, barley and rye, so have had to think differently about things like Bread, Pizza, and Pasta, so when I want a Pasta dish I use Rice noodles instead of Spaghetti. I have found the the industrial manufactured breads of the Supermarket's El Cheapo varieties make me nauseous, so I have tried Sourdough breads, which work for me, also Sourdough Pizza bases. I also find that Brioche, with it's high butter content, works for me too.

I also avoid chillies, as they have unfortunate effects on my innards!

Cheers, Midori

Hi there Its persistent worse when I wake up it points towards gerd I think .chris

Hey firstly what meds are you on as opioids can cause all those symptoms. I have the same but I take laxatives and anti sickness which has helped loads. Also for the acid you often need omeprazole alongside pain killers to protect the stomach. As they can cause your stomach to produce excess acid.

Hi No opiods just pregablin and duloxeteine what anti sickness do you take please?

Cathjamesandmatt20 profile image

Those are still strong ish painkillers so it could be a combination of them and the Fibro itself.

I’m on cyclizine it works so well I started it when I was morphine codeine sedatives the lot and it worked on the concoction then and what I’m on now. I’d also ask about omeprazole as it neutralises the excess acid. Hope this helps 😊

Fibrochris profile image
Fibrochris in reply toCathjamesandmatt20

Brill does the cyclizine work after one pill or do you keep taking them? This is very useful

Cathjamesandmatt20 profile image
Cathjamesandmatt20 in reply toFibrochris

They worked straight away for me. I’m on 3 a day but you’d prob only need one or two. And you’re welcome. Sadly I have been going through a lot for quite some time so you get to know what’s what 😊
