Hi Hitman

I have been told because of the lack of inactivity (if one stays indoor because of pain) sufferers put on weight. I fall into the category of non workers but do a bit of activity + eating one meal a day and top it up with nuts and fruits. In my case I lost a stone which I am happy about. Aiming for losing another half stone as gaining weight make the condition worse.

Happy slim days to come 💁‍♀️

In my case I became less active but it didn't occur to me to change my eating habits, I have now but it isn't easy to shift the weight. All best wishes xx

I think the majority of us can't be as active as we were before fibro and this inactivity can cause a weight gain. Some medications can also make us more sluggish which doesn't help. We can be low and depressed and therefore comfort ear without realising. We are in pain and don't have much energy so we rarely cook food from scratch and rely on ready meals etc instead of eating a healthy diet. No wonder many people like on the pounds.x

I put on a lot of weight. I don't burn the calories off because I don't get out much. I do try to walk around the garden every day though. I've been taking gabapentin for many years. Ended up on 10 300mg a day. Now reduced to 2 300mg a day. I have lost a stone since Christmas. But I had the flu at Christmas and lost my appetite (which isn't great anyway). So could be down to that. Hoping to loose more weight ....slowly and heàlthily.

Hi Hitman 57,

As you get less active, the weight will creep on, also there are certain medications which seem to make you gain, and it can be the devil to get off again.

I just eat less and try to do more, sitting in front on the Computer One Eyed Monster doesn't help, I'm as guilty as the next person.

Cheers. Midori
