I currently have Fibromyalgia as well as other illnesses... Ostioarthritis, and an underactive Thyroid. I have read that Magnesium Malate is good for Fibromyalgia and wondered if anyone else has any experience of it they could share with me please, do I or don't I?

Magnesium Malate
Hi.im not sure tbh but wanted you to know I'm thinking of you. I'm sure someone will be along shortly to help you. Take care Lynne
I have been taking Magnesium Malate to help with pain in the morning and magnesium bis glycinate to help with sleep in the evening for years now, and i find it definitely makes a difference to me, while it does not get rid of the pain, it reduces the intensity.
Thank you Chrisbel. I have been out trying to find Magnesium Malate and it's like trying to find a needle in a haystack. I have gone against everything I believe in and purchased off of e Bay so who knows what I will be taking, looking back, bad move.
Hi I buy both types from amazon, and have tried lots of different brands and strengths until I found what suited me.
Hi Chrisbel,
Would it be ok to ask you what strength of each you'd suggest starting with and if you recommend any particular brands? It's a very individual thing I know but I'd like to try it and my overwhelmed brain isn't up to reading up on/researching much at the moment. Many thanks
hi yes, I take 1 magnesium malate in the morning current brand is optimum fx, you can take two, but I also take 2 nutri advanced magnesium glycinate in the evening along with my vitamin D3, K2, and B Complex an hour before bed as it helps me sleep better. so magnesium malate is best for pain and magnesium glycinate best for helping sleep, you can experiment with quantities, when you get to taking too much you will possibly experience loose bowels, so then just dial it back a bit. I buy these from amazon.
God bless you for that, it's such a big help. My GP's sole recommendation is psychiatric medication, duloxetine, and that's not a route I wish to go down. Thanks again, Ava
there are quite a lot of natural products that can help with the various symptoms, I have had fibro for ten years, am 71, and lead an almost normal life, have dealt with the brain fog, fatigue, at least 50-60% of the pain, got rid of the irritable bowel, using a variety of natural products, diet, breathing oxygen under pressure, exercise, stretching, there are many articles out there of studies and their findings that are helpful, I think it’s a case of trying everything until you find what suits you. I break it down into parts, pain and stiffness, mental clarity, fatigue, inflammation, and take supplements that deal with each
symptom and ameliorate my diet as I observe what makes the symptoms better or worse. if you are interested I can go through it all, but it requires significant change and tenacity to follow through. cheers
You sound like such a resourceful lady, thank you for coming on here and sharing what you've found to have worked.
May I ask, in taking those vitamins you wouldn't be able to take a multivitamin each day as well would you?
firstly, I am man, as to the vitamins, from my reading, most multi’s are fairly useless as they are not designed for the particular problem and therefor don’t have the right quantities of useful vits/mins, I take the ones that are relevant to my problems D3, K2, B complex, B3, B6, C, curcumin, MSM, probiotics, n-acetyl cystein, selenium, zinc, hyaluronic acid, omega 3, magnesium and a few others. all of these are to do with aspects of fibro as lack of them can cause symptoms to be worse.
Hi. I've just started taking magnesium for fibro. Can take a while to get into the system especially as you'll be low of it. Hoping to feel some benefits soon. Been taking it for 3 weeks now x
I have been taking two types of magnesium, along with a no chemical life style and a few other natural products and have experienced a large reduction in pain and other symptoms caused by fibro. you could start with 200 mg per day and move up to 600 mg, if you take too much the side effect seems to be loose bowels, so just dial it back a little from there, I also take magnesium glycinate in the evening before bed as it helps with sleep. I would add that when I started to develop arthritis, I learned about hyaluronic acid, and have been taking it for 10 years and my arthritis has completely cleared up, if you are interested, you take 300-600mg(1 or two tablets) per day for a minimum of 4 months as it can take that long to build up in your system (took 3 months and two weeks to start working with me) then, if it’s going to work for you, the pain gets less and the swelling goes down. apparently it’s a lubricant that your body produces less of as you get older, and you’re just replacing it. I get mine from pure clinica on amazon. cheers, hope that is of some help.
