Good morning everyone, I hope you are all having a good day. I have a question, are there any people living in North East Wales who have fibromyalgia and have had facet joint radio ablation or spinal cord stimulator fitted for arthritis. I have been told by the pain team that I can't have either because they won't work because I have fibro. I answered that I don't understand this as I have had injections for shoulder and bursitis pain that have worked. The answer I was given is injection etc in the spine are not the same. Sounds like a cop out to me. I would be interested to hear from anyone who has fibro and has had successfully treatments, as mentioned above, especially people in North East Wales. Thank you.

Like me,you could ask your rheumatologist to inject you muscular with Kenalog a steroid substance..it has helped many with arthritic and fibro pain,,I have also had this into shoulders for bursitis and calcified tendinitis..it's a great pain Reliever and gives a boost of energy. It can be given 6 monthly and use your normal meds with it or like me seen off and keep meds at hand if the kenalog wears off early ..your consultant can ask your g.p to give it you but be aware its a prescription so you might have to cover costs yourself unless you are exempt..I have a HC2 form for free help..you get that form online.
Thank you NurseGladys123 I have never heard of Kenalog, I will check this out. Xx
Hi
I had diagnostic injections plus one steroid on my facet joint last week to decide when they will do radio frequency ablation, anti my pain is worse not better so I can't have the next lot done. I've got to see my consultant to decide on next plan of action. Hope you get sorted out soon. Love and hugs Lynne xxxx
I have a feeling that they don't like injecting near the spine in case it gets into the spinal canal itself, which could cause problems. I'm out of date on this but I'd be wary about steroids near the spinal canal. Just my personal tuppence worth.
Hi I live in the south east and have had facet joint injections both in my lower back and cervical spine which definitely helped with some of my pain. They can last up to 12 months or more. Recently I paid privately to have cool radiofrequency denervation in my lumbar spine and sacroiliac joints. Had it done 10 years ago and had more than18 months relatively pain free as far as my back pain goes so hoping for the same this time....hope you can get some help with your pain.
Thank you Psulli, that sounds incouraging, xx
