I saw my primary care doctor, he had no idea what to do for me medication wise, so he referred me to the pain clinic, focusing on my neck pain and headaches. I also saw my neurologist who wasn't sure what to do with me, she agreed the pain clinic might help so she ordered an MRI of my head and neck.
So...we'll start there.
Neurologist put me on a low dose Cymbalta [duloxetine] for fibro pain and depression. Is anyone taking Cymbalta or have you ever tried it? Did/does it help?
Her recommendation to the pain clinic is to put me on a pain patch.

Pain in my neck was causing me dreadful headaches, theses were 10/10 headaches where I could barely get out of bed and had to hold onto furniture and walls to get to the bathroom. I went to a chiropractor who showed me exactly what was wrong, adjusted my neck and I could move my head freely without pain. Headache free for almost a week. Might be worth considering.
Hi medications can be very individual. What works for one does not work for another. I have tried them all I think. I have just finished a pain management programme and there is no perfect pain pill. There put me on a patch but they also taught me other methods to try and manage my pain. Perhaps a pain management programme would be a good option for you. Medications can and do help...But there are others things that can be taught that could also benefit you.
I took duloxetine last year and I felt it really helped however, I would experience terrible night sweats to the point where it was like someone had poured a bucket of water on the bed. I hope it works for you though. Best wishes.
