Hello there Crissy, thank you for your message.

Here is some info about Pregabalin, I hope you find this helpful -

patient.co.uk/medicine/Preg...

Pregabalin is an anti-convulsant medication, whilst it is commonly used for epilepsy, it can also be prescribed for neuropathic pain. This is why it is often prescribed for people with Fibromyalgia to help with their pain.

Pregabalin is also known by the name Lyrica.

Any worries or concerns, please just ask, we are always only too happy to try to help.

I was diagnosed about 4 years ago when I was walking to my car and could not move. I was scared and thought that there was something very wrong and went to the doctor.. Getting diagnosed is hard and I had to see 2 different doctors. I to recently have experienced severe pain in my buttocks and honestly never knew that the pain would show up there. I have a desk job which can be a blessing and a curse. I have to sit and then stand and both hurt terribly.

I went to my doctor yesturday and I did let him know that my pain seems worse and spreading to new places. I have been told that Fibro does not worsen but that I have flare ups. I refuse to accept that answer because I know that from the time that I felt my first episode of this scarey disease and intell now..I do feel worse and have more flare ups. I find at work that if I make sure that I stand up from time to time it does help a bit to relieve some pressure and pain. Also on my lunch I force myself to walk a bit if only a block. Hurt..yes but I do feel better after.

I'm going back soon too. I'm just afraid they are going to put me on oxycodone - I'm in the maximun amount of tramadol and i have been for ages so I think my body build some tolerance, I still find it helpful for mobility for my neck it's like the magic pill since i can't move it much without it - I hate it it really makes me look disabled.

The thing is that in time I will build tolerance to oxicodone too and what else will it be or me? This really worries me specially when or some reason I don't get flares, I'm the same all the time. One day I may be able to do a little sth that I can't usualy do but this is very very occasionally and that's it.

I tried pregabalin and didn't work very well - besides I read you put on a lots of weight regardless of everything else. This definetely woud not help the little confidence somebody's got left.

Wish you luck with your new treatment,

Hi. Ive been on pregabalin for ages. It doesn't work at all for the pain, does help a bit with sleep. I have, however, put on loads of weight. I'm up to 11 and half stone (from about 9) which I think is probably the meds. Am going to doc on fri to talk pain meds - going to try and come off the Pregabalin. Not sure where I can go as I'm on Tramadol as it is and a previous doc said there is nothing that you can substitute for pregabalin. However, im on antidepressants which will help with sleep so I reckon the pregabalin is all but redundant anyway. X
