Low temperature

I’ve been in hospital twice in the last 6 weeks.

Urine retention and Sepsis. I have a Catheter bag.

I’m home now but feel terrible. I took my temperature 4 times and was 35.7 C each time.

What can this point to , please.

Peter

As a minimum you should call 111, as a reduced temperature is just as bad as a raised one.

Hi there, has you have been in hospital with serious health problems I think FRreedman is correct. You should call 111 without further delay if you have not done so all ready. And if you become sicker in the mean time you may have to call 999 But please ring 111 now.

I’m in hospital now. My O2 level is low at 92% and they took an arterial CO2 through the wrist , which is low again. I am producing blood clots into my Catheter bag. After my first kidney stone operation the right tube from my bladder to my kidney was too narrow to take the camera/laser and had to be enlarged, producing large amounts of blood. I have been on iron tablets for a year and haemoglobin is still slightly low.

I’ve just been told I’m going to have a CT scan. They think I might have blood poisoning. The first time I had this they took 5 antibiotics before they found one that worked. My temperature is still low and they are taking my Stats every hour ,along with my blood glucose, as I have Diabetes II. Every hour ! day and night. Great!!

So sorry to hear about the loss of your brother and all the health issues you are going through. Very relieved to hear they have taken you seriously and you are having thorough investigations.

I do hope they get on top of it very soon for you. Take care

The big problem is most of the doctors have great difficulty getting blood from me. I’ve had the problem for years. Cannot see or feel the veins. They are only allowed three goes and that goes for the phlebotomists who haven given up before. Our GPs nurse gets it first time! She says she can feel

it. I’ve had junior doctors swear at me as if it is my fault. My GP and I have locked horns on more than one occasion. I suffer from depression & anxiety and have done so since 1988.

Once since my sister found out she had lung and brain cancer, which was 7 years after she had breast cancer, I became very anxious and asked for a few Valium (Diazepam 5mg). I went to pick up the prescription. It was for ONE Diazepam. Pathetic! I complained to the GP association.

I did go through the doctors standard complaints procedure, but that was a waste of time.

The GP Association sent him for retraining in one area.

I lost my sister 5 years ago. Then my mother about 1 year ago and now my brother a few weeks ago.

I had testicular cancer in 1986 but got over it well. I had 17 shots of radiation. All kids had cancer. 3 in 3 , not 1 in 3 which is the norm.

Very sorry to hear of your losses. Low temperature is a symptom of hypothyroidism, which could run in the family. It can make you feel very unwell. You must get the full gamut of tests though; do not be fobbed off with just TSH - you need Free T4 and Free T4 too and ideally get the following checked aswell : vitamins D3& B12, folate & ferritin. Good luck!
