Body temperature: Hi all just wondering... - Fibromyalgia Acti...
Body temperature
I spent yesterday freezing could not get warm, this morning I have opened the windows and switched the heating off, at least it will save me some money!!
Hi yes I am the same night is worse for me spend half the night sitting on side of bed so hot do not know what to do with myself then rapping covers round shaking with cold with that and the pain lucky if I get two hours sleep hugs to all x
I have immense trouble keeping warm. My feet and hands are always cold.
I very rarely feel too hot, but I suffer dreadfully from the cold.
I wear loads of layers in the winter, but am still always cold.
I've heard the expression "it's not cold" so many times so I now respond with "you may not be cold, but I am!"
There's always a hot water bottle on the go in my home as I can't afford to have the central heating on very often.

Hi Bluemermaid.
It's just a thought but have you had your thyroid checked for hypothyroidism as that can cause you to have a low basal temp, making you feel cold all the time.
Hugs to all

Hi cezzie
Thanks so much for your thoughtful message.
I will mention this to my GP next time I go.
I've never had it checked before, so it's always worth investigating.
Hugs all round

Hi the I have the same problems I get to a point we're I feel chilled to the bones witch seams to make the pain worse and I also suffer from very cold hands and feet then I can be sitting doing nothing and I just feel this overweming heat {hot) feeling all over and I can't cold down I go from 1 extreme to another its a nightmear x
Morning all, Yes I think lots of us have problems with temperature control - I do even though my legs are bandaged with lymphodema tripple wraps at moment I end up sleeping with my top half out of the covers and if I touch my skin it is freezing yet my trunk and legs are fine. dont notice getting colder and colder and then it is very hard to warm up.
xgins
Me too, I had my window open yesterday to air the room as I do every day but then just left it I didn't feel like I was getting colder and then last night WHAM!! OMG everywhere hurt, could barely move all night and took me hours re balance my temperature. Stupid me caused me a painful evening!!! so no reward for me today LOL xx
I take hot water bottles to bed to get warm, then have to turn the fan on to cool down. I also have what feels like sun burn allover even the bits that never sees the sun. The touch of clothing, the bedding ect makes it worse and the greater the weight of whatever is touching my skin the more painful it is.This includes my own weight. right now my bum the back of my thighs and any where else that is pressing against the chair is on fire. In bed it is all down the side I am lying on plus were my arms legs ect that are touching other parts of my body react against each other. For me it never stops but when it gets too bad I take paracetamol and that takes the edge of it for me hugs Sue
Hi, I am exactly the same as you. Pain in thighs also so think it must be a symptom of Fybro. I used to wear open shoes when it was very cold ( in my younger less sensible days) but now if I'm not wearing warm slippers my feet are freezing. My hands often get cold when I used to be roasting all the time. Even my nose gets cold.
My feet are always cold. Shoes, socks slippers even a soft fluffy flease blanket touching them makes them itch and sets my RLS off. so I just put up with them being cold
Hi Paula
I can't remember a time when I wasn't like that, I'm 40 and only just now broaching the subject with my doctor. Apparently I had issues as a baby and infant but not as severe as my brother, which is why I now think it was overlooked in me It doesn't help that I never whinged about it.
I can never get warm but when I do its like I'm in the tropics and have to start de-layering rapidly or I pass out. My hands are always freezing, which is why I took to ceramics and apparently make good pastry so there are some advantages
There would be times as a child when I would go for door handles and it was like touching freezing metal and it would rapidly spread like an electric shock through my arms and the rest of my body. I still get that now today where I have to pull sleeves over my hands etc to open doors and can't use steel cutlery, it all has handles in my house It was frightening because I had no idea what it was as a child, but now believe it is connected somehow to the hot-cold-hot-cold scenario. Does anyone else experience this?
I am currently sat in bed with a hat, scarf, sandwiched between 2 duvets and an electric blanket, lovely, only thing missing is fingerless gloves
Extra Warming Fluffies for everyone
xxxsianxxx
Hiya Zeb this all sounds very familier I can remember a time as a child when I used to take a water bottle to bed, pile every spare blanket on the bed, then as I still could not get warm pile on all the coats on as well and still lie there shivering all night well you sound nice and warm now, I will have to start crocheting some fluffy fingerless mittens. What colour would you like? hugs sue
Aw thanks sue purple please would be lovely
Super warming fluffies heading your way they're young and a bit giggly so hope you have marshmallows at the ready xxx
Yes.
Freezing or baking.
Just comfortable. It doe seem to be worse in the winter. Although I can run cold when every one is shedding clothes.
It's exhausting. Putting stuff on the pulling it off.
And whatever my nose is always cold.
However I have not developed a bark to add to everything else.
Woof My nose is always cold and i try not to wear jumpers its too pain full on my arms to keep taking them off. so I have become a hoodie. Now theres a thought. A dog wearing a hoodie?
I too am a hoodie. But alas whippet maroon outfit does not have a hood.
Tis a thought though perhaps one would stop his teeth chattering on frosty mornings.
Has any one tried one of they fleecy electric throws? I would love to borrow one before I splash the cash to see if they are worth the money.
I find fleecy bed socks nearly as comforting as a teddy bear at bed time.
Thanks everyone for your replies oh glad it's not just me going batty! I wear 2 pairs of pjs now they come on and off like a yo yo lolxxx
Hi there - again I'm either freezing cold, with shivers and muscle spasms or boiling hot with aching sore muscles. I never seem to be just right. I'm often wrapped in a duvet (with the fire burning) or sweating & feeling uncomfortable. Sometimes I'm not too bad but my feet & hands are still freezing. I've always thought this is largely due to my thyroid problem but see more and more that it is relevant to all who suffer from fibro.
Goodness, I thought I was temperature sensitive but reading these posts I amazed at how brilliant you all are at coping with such extremes.
I am almost always cold - often shaking from the cold, and my family have just gotten used to me being bundled up in layers, with a hot water bottle under my jumper, and blankets on top.
However in the summer I have difficulty cooling down if I do get hot ( wearing a labcoat on top of your clothes and hten going outside to collect samples in the sun heats me up slowly but surely and hten it takes a long time to cool down again) but once I have cooled down I have to bundle up again or else I am really cold - silly in comparison with what many of you cope with, and I have adjusted to it over the years and always go places with extra clothes and blankets just in case ( i.e cinema is freezing for me, wear many layers and take hand heaters along) and it all works out one way or another.
I am sure it is just my thyroid being its usual unhelpful self
sometimes I long for when I was hyper - I could walk about the place in sleeveless t-shirts, even in winter - LOL
I purchased a heated blanket from John Lewis made by a company called Dreamland which has 9 heat settings, costing £40 and is brill, unfortunately since developing Polymyalgia & Giant Cell arteritis i now suffer from constant hot sweats, overheating & must be the only person who can walk along the sea front whilst it's blowing a gale and my body & the back back of my head dripping in sweat. (Far worse than the menopause!!)
The things we all have to cope with, however it's great that you have all managed to keep your sense humour
Hugs to everyone

Hi paulapips64
I am so sorry to hear that you are having problems at the moment. I suffer with hot flushes (rather embarrassing as I am a man). then I get cold and it takes forever to warm up again and the whole things starts all over! I sincerely hope that you can ascertain some resolution tho this problem.
All my hopes and dreams for you

Can never get my temperature right and in the night I'm soaked with perspiration. Tops of my legs down to knees always feel burning.
Hi Paula I'm so glad you posted this, because I am exactly the same, I'm not glad that you have the problem but it explains a few things when you hear someone else is going thru the same , the worst iswhen I'm out, I sweat so much all my clothes are damp you can't remove your coat because the air is too cold , so you have to wait for it to dry on you, I don't know about you but I really feel uncomfortable and ill when the sweat comes on and it happens about every half hour, I've had thyroid test done and it isn't that, I don't like taking pills but I wish there was one that could stop this awful feeling, I also have the sore thighs too, gentle. Hugs to you....Dee x
Hi cookie thanks for replying at last found someone with sore thighs too mine is the outer sides and fronts of thighs feels like bad sunburn my doc gave me some antiflamitory cream to rub on but that's not doing anything can't even bear my pjs on them and the body temperature thing is driving me crazy I change from dripping with sweat to ice cold within 15 mins all the time I've got a good doc tho so hopefully she will sort it out soon gentle hugs to you x
Morning Paula, sorry for delay in answering your post, but have been unable to open it, until today, managed to open all the others, how are you, do you get the feeling that there are crumbs inside you trouser legs, that is the only way I know how to discribe it, although my pjs are uncomfortable on my legs they are all I can wear indoors, if it were possible I would wear them out too, although thy are uncomfortable they are better tolerated than ordinary trousers, which is all I wear, I don't possess a skirt lol, when I was younger I was always in a Skirt loved the feminine feel, but now can't stand them , I don't think anti inflammatory cream is any good, let me know what your docs says, I had a really good doc but she left Christmas, like you I go from dripping wet to ice cold and if you are outside in the cold it makes it worse doesnt it, .....gentle hugs...Dee. X
Yes, very cold tonight, have extra long scarf wrapped round neck with wheat bag tucked in it.hot water bottle on stomach and quilt on top and heating on.still cold tired and aching everywhere. Probably be sweating tomorow.
Yes, just the same. I feel as if my thermostat is broken. I'm usually cold but when I get hot I can't take layers off. I just get clammy and that goes cold so coldness is a perennial problem.
Hi, I have night sweats and cold during the day a lot. I have pain in hips, thighs, shoulders, neck and stomach pain. Still working and finding it difficult. Anti depressants didn't work for pain so not sure what the next step will be to control pain levels. Sending you gentle hugs.
Thank you Carole you too x
yes im exactly the same, i havn;t had any bad sweats for about 10 days now i never thought about it being down to fibro,i thought i was just having heavy hot flushes! lol. as for the legs yes i get it really bad,i had done for years & not one dr or physio could answer why,it wasn't until i was refered to pain clinic last yr that i was told its a symptom of fibro. x
