Does anyone ever just suddenly get hot and sweaty. Hate it. New here. So many symptoms and pain with fibro. Wish there was a magic pill to make it all go away. Hate even wearing a bra.

Yep - wonky thermastat that's me. Sometimes the head sweats are beyond a joke. then there is the freezing cold feeling when everyone else is in T shirts and moaning how hot it is. Seems I can't win. I bet most fibro folk would admit to stripping off day clothes and putting pyjamas on as soon as they get in the door! I hate wearing anything restrictive which is quite a problem when I have to wear uniform for work. :( Haven't got any miracle cures I'm afraid. As for the magic pill just got to keep hoping on that one!

Oh yes and I get particularly hot and bothered when putting the bra (straight jacket) on. That's why I welcome the cooler weather as I can't bear getting overheated. Fibro just keeps on giving doesn't it! Maybe we should just burn all our bras, we could have a special event, The Great Fibro Fire where we all get together and incinerate our pesky underwear lol x

oooh burn our bras - would love to but think I would get sore knees without my bra ;) At least we are not alone in our thinking.

Ha ha I know what you mean - just throw them over your shoulders like I do lol x

That should be our theme tune - Jessie Matthews sang :-

So, over my shoulder goes one care

Over my shoulder go two cares

Why should I cry, it's blue above

I'm free at last

So was she talking about burning her bra - somehow I doubt it but it doesn't stop us adopting her song :)

Yip due to my fibro I have no body temperature thermostat so I can go from boiling to freezing a hundred times a day. I also can't stand heat or cold. The joys !!

I find I can't function in hot weather. I have a tower fan there good.i don't take a cup of hot chocolate to bed I take my tower fan. I have a blanket or heated glove on my left hand cause it kicks the Raynaud's off so I can be roasting and freezing all at the same time. Double whammy.

I sweat so badly just doing a little grocery shop, I've had ppl ask me am I having a heart attack and could the get me an ambulance.

I always have an icy cold drink if ever I'm going to have a hot drink or soup. I too go to bed with the air con, ceiling fan and pedestal fan trained on me and still I have night sweats that drench my head and wet the pillows & sheets.

Bras are pu bn lic enemy number one. I have taken to nakedness during both night & day at times (which helps). It seems the most minor of exercise or stress will set off the rivulets.

No pills help. All the docs scratch their heads - no explanation from any of them

Yes, hot then cold never really under control. I sweat under my eyes its not a good look, and generally I would be more comfortable if I could be naked but I done want to scare my few friends away😃

Yes I think we aught to get a plumber in to sort out our thermastats your either freezing cold and can't get warm or you could fry an egg on us the life of a fibro warrior such fun lol

You could fry an egg on mine and do a tray of ice cubes at the same time. My brain must think what the hells going on.

My thermostat is wonky.

I'm going back to the Neuro hospital soon, for more tests.

I too have intense hot/ cold spells but took me a while to realise it was fibro - well most of the time anyway. I say that because I am prone to water infections so don't always assume its fibro is what I am saying. I know we are all fed up of checking things out with a medic but sometimes you have to. I have had fibro about 20 years & it never ceases to amaze me how many different symptoms it has. All the best for the future.

Definitely burn the bra...try wearing one of those sport bar tops & if it's Men-O-Pause as well, then try lemon & ginger tea. Mint is also a good cooling agent. (The wheat germ/lavender or mint pillows can help too) Wear natural fibres in layers, cotton, linen, hemp. I recently discovered that bamboo sox are apparently good for diabetics & I've found the cheapest at TKMaXX,all natural fibres again. Basically try stay away from too many synthetics.

Peace & perseverance
