Morning all, I'm new to this I was only diagnosed with fibromyalga in Jan this year. I was wondering if anyone else struggleswith their body temperature? In this horrible weather we've had I'm still walking around as if it's summer in sleeveless tops because I'm so hot.

Hi Z0e23, sorry to hear that you're struggling with body temperature. I'm exactly the same, I'm finding this weather so hard to deal with! It's way too warm for me still, I've been so hot and sweaty everyday it's really embarrassing. I've had sweat dripping down my face when I've gone out and it's making me feel really self conscious. I'm really looking forward to when it gets cooler and I can at least maybe wear a cardigan too or something, but coats are usually out of the question unless it's below freezing outside! You're definitely not alone with this, big hugs to you xxx
I find that I either get very hot and can't cool down or the other side of the coin I get that cold that I can not warm up at all, spoke to me Gp about it he said my thermostat was broken or words to that affect. Have you tried a cool pad I find that when am hot if when am sitting down put my feet on it helps to keep me cool, or spritzing yourself with water on your face and arms or a wet cloth applied to the back of your neck also helps. Hope you start to cool down soon.
Thank you for your responses, definitely glad to hear I'm not alone. I have tires the cold cloth on back of neck, will definitely look at getting a cool pad.
Yes I have only 2 settings, freezing or boiling nothing in between. I can imagine you are dreading mid winter when everyone will be sitting with jumpers in hugging the fire and you will think you are in the tropics. I find wearing natural fabrics rather than synthetics helps a bit. You have my sympathy.x
Hi Zoe, I have problems with body temperature too. I am still wearing t-shirts, I sweat all the time. However, I can get very cold at night and I wake up shivering. It's like my thermostat has broke.
I also have problems with body temp but mines that I can’t warm up. Permanently cold and struggle to get any heat into my feet. I sit at home in warm jammies, warm fluffy socks and slippers and thick warm fluffy jumper. I also have a thick blanket over my legs and a neck warmer. My kids all sit around in shorty jammies and t shirts complaining that it’s too warm lol
I'm the same always cold even in summer I wear cardies and coats people think I'm so weird lol.
I think a lot of us have this fibro thermostat, baking hot or freezing,iv got too the stage my head drips with sweat when im out especially. Its embarrassing😳.even in the winter as soon as i go out and hit cold air I still sweat, sorry I don't have any answer or remedies for this but I always wear cotton things I think that helps a little bit x
I struggle to keep warm Zoe, and then on other days I have sweats they are not post meno sweats either. when I eat I feel myself sweat, its all odd really, yesterday I went to dentist because i have had toothache for weeks, as it got worse I plucked up courage- she said there are no cavities or problems and that its can be fibro related, the nerve ends are very sensitive in gums and roots, so now I have to see gp tomoz for a mouthwash she has recommended I use to ease the pain-- anyone else have teeth problems like this? How do you deal with it?
Hello Z0e23, for me personally being hot for most of the time and having awful sweats are one of the worst symptoms of fm. I cannot regulate my body temperature at all and it becomes even worse when I get excited, anxious, frustrated or sometimes for just no reason at all. It's usually worse in the morning. I'm hoping against all hope that someone can come up with an answer,in the meantime I'll just keep carrying on wearing my summer clothes all year round!! X
Hello, I have exactly the same problem since 2003 when I was diagnosed. At first I thought it was the menopause causing the sweats then I thought it was from the Tramadol I take but from reading all the replied it seems it is the symptoms of FM. I live in the French Alps and the cold weather really hurts me but it doesn't stop me from dripping with sweat and getting hot flushes even in winter. Anyone got a solution to this?
My hands and feet are always cold...any weather.Feel cold more than husband but then I feel heat more too.I took jumper off last night and my husband was freezing and started to put heating on.I yelled "don't you dare" ....I wrapped my jumper round him instead !
I have that hot and cold thing going on too but had no idea it was due to fibro! It explains a lot lol. I'm so busy trying to cope with my spinal condition that fibro symptoms are only thought of when I have a change of medication. A lot of my spinal medication is also used for fibro. However, I'm so sensitive to meds that they have to keep being changed. It's all very frustrating!
Hi causes me havoc as way too hot wear short sleeved things and a microfibre gilet so have pockets for me glasses etc as fibro makes me too hot and Asperger's you don't feel the cold even though can be frozen! but Raynauds a chill and freezing!
One thing ive found which i found great as light&breezy to wear is a blouse it's in a chiffon so pretty sheer'ish ex evans ones got them cheap sleeves hold up with a strap on each elbow so if get a chill can undo which takes the chill off without being too hot and under my gilet feel so much more comfy&cooler like it radiates the heat out where as my T shirts which are cotton often feel too hot&stuffy
Yes i know womans but you know what i don't care as im comfy and to me that's all that matters!
Can't find/see anything 'male' like it anyway esp for price.
But i rarely ever wear a coat etc unless raining/very cold
I'm the same. I still have the fan on at nights and my bedroom window wide open. Husband complains he's cold but I tell him its easier to warm up than cool down. He just has to put an extra blanket on. The fan is directed straight at me so he can't complain to much. He's usually pretty good but it does get to him sometimes. I bought the cool gel mats that you put in your pillow to help cool you down. They work wonders to help you sleep.
