Morning, I have Codiene it seems to take the edge off for a couple of hours but I understand what you mean and it’s only when I really need it as doc says addictive and not too use everyday, really feel for you if current meds are not working, are you due to see your doctor for a catch up and could he/she try something else, , I was like you never had anything tablet wise till the last few years, sending hugs.

I find that 1 codeine tablet doesn’t do much now and 2 knocks me out for a few hours. Have you tried antidepressants? I am on nortyptyline which helps but it doesn’t fully take the pain away x

I take zapain - a prescription strength co-codamol. So as well as the paracetamol element it’s 60mg of codeine 4 x a day. Plus top-ups of oramorph, particularly at night.?And it certainly helps. Yes makes me a bit dopey - sleepy and forgetful. But I still manage to hold down a mentally demanding job and I wouldn’t be able to do that if I were in pain all the time.

Everyone is different but I wouldn’t worry too much about addiction. I did gradually come off my codeine and oramorph last year after I developed headache and nausea symptoms. I don’t feel like I experienced anything like withdrawal symptoms - just an increase in pain. The headache, nausea, dizziness and balance issues turned out to be an inner ear problem - that’s a nightmare and a whole other story. But it was a relief to be able to start taking my zapain again once we found it wasn’t the culprit.

Hi there, have you tried kapake it's got codein and paracetamol in it helps me as codein on its own constipated me or pregabilin or gabberpentin they are good for nerve pain , you just have to give them ago to see what is best for you

Dear Relax ,

i now use cbd oil as a spray , for pain . The only other thing i have is celebrex , but i shouldnt take that regularly because if heart meds. I also use tramadol ( an opiate ) in the afternoon , for restless legs , the afternoon is my best time of day , perhaps because i have a spray around the same time as the tablets.

You need to check with your doctor of course before taking any other meds even if they are natural. If you are interested in trying cbd , look it up on the internet. It has no hallucinatory compound in it and has been legal for about 18 months . Holland and barratt stock it and can advise on dosage . You start low on 5% and build up as necessary . The effect also builds in the body , but i do think that it is much better than opiates, though they are effective for some ( not me either), they are also addictive as cbd is not. I dont take it so much if i'm in less pain.

There are other natural things , like turmeric with black pepper, ginger , and bromelian. And i take braggs cider vinegar two or three times a day, i manage about a dessert spoon at a time in water with sweetener , i do think that helps.

I do hope this helps . God bless KT

Ask your doctor for a referral to a pain clinic? Gabapentin and Pregabalin have been found to work for many people with fibro, but they both have nasty side effects. Some people don't get the side effects, tho!
