Does anyone else find it impossible to stand without excruciating pain.

Does anyone else find it impossible to stand , just stand still, without excruciating pain? I find it impossible to stand up, the pain creeps very fast up my feet and legs, then my back becomes unbearably painful and I have to sit down. This makes it impossible to do anything!! I would love to hear other peoples advice or experience on how to get round this. This pain never goes away, not like a flare when it sometimes lessen. I have this problem all the time. Look forward to hearing other members views. Thank you for reading such a rambling post...............fibro fog strikes again:-))

Yes me!! I have the most terrible mortal pain 24/7

I cry with the pain, standing, sitting, sleeping the pain never leaves me. What medication do you take? I'm on morphine tablets and pain patches and both only take the edge off the pain. It feels like I'm being crushed between 2 lorries

Hi, so sorry you suffer this way too!! It really is horrendous. Your comparison to being crushed between two lorries is very accurately descriptive!! I'm sorry you have this, but without this sounding horrible, it's nice to know it's not just me experiencing this, it sort of makes you feel you are in the realms of 'normal' if there is such a thing! I take paracetamol and tramadol, also meptid tablets. I have a tens machine which is good on my back and a hot tub which is lovely! But I can't be in it all day. I respond well to heat. I attend the pain clinic at kings lynn hospital, where the consultant is brilliant, very supportive, compassionate and knowledgable about fibro. Do you have a good network. Hope you are not suffering too much at the moment. Take care x

Hi Sorry to hear that you are suffering like this and no I do not get pain from just standing unless for a while. I had pain from walking today and found heat helped a great deal.

Hi Lizzyear

I am so sorry to read that you are suffering in this way, and I genuinely hope that you can find some resolution and relief to this issue. I can relate to what you are saying and I move from chair to chair to try and get comfortable or too ease some of the pain, but it doesn't really work. I love my TENS machine as this does help me.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken x

I suffer from a terrible pain in my lower back which feels like my back is in a vice and being crushed, it is agonising. It comes on when standing in one spot and also at times when walking. I also get some shocking pains in my legs. I have fibro and arthritis, but I don't know which condition is responsible. No painkillers touch this pain and Lyrica is useless.

Well everyone we are all getting it off our chests, I suffer daily with pain, but also with Ulcerative Colitis/Crohns Disease, which for those of you who have never heard of it, it's a inflammatory bowel disease! So urgently need of toilet is an understatement

So not only is standing and walking difficult but rushing to the loo is near on impossible for me.

You can imagine what comes next!! It involves a mop and bucket and shower/clean clothes!!

Anyone beat that on my game who has more than one condition??

I am so sorry that you suffer from fibromyalgia & arthritis. I suffered from the pain you describe, at the level you described for more than a year. It is bilateral sciatica. I still have it but at a more manageable pain level after surgery.

I strongly urge you to have a MRI done to check for arthritis growth and/or herniated disc compressing your sciatic nerves. If the MRI is negative ask for a Myelogram to check for disc rupture (that is what I had). The earlier the surgery the better the recovery!

Good luck & God Bless.

I have the exact same problem. It was my chief symptom and I suffered through it for years before my fibro diagnosis. It's gotten so bad at this point that I can't work and I can't even go out with my family for trips or errands without needing a wheelchair to get around. My doctor has been trying a number of medicines and combinations with me but I still don't have any relief.

Thank you so much for your replies. I have read them with much interest. I am so sorry that so many of us suffer with this continual pain, but it's helps knowing I'm not the only person with this and hearing how you manage it.

Once again thank you so much for your replies. I hope you have all had the best day you can. Gentle hugs x
