breast pain

Hi I had a cancer diagnosis a year ago and had a lump removed from my right breast with a wide local excision. At the same time I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia which got overlooked during the cancer treatment.

I maintained my own business throughout as I am a sole trader and I felt okay really. A year on and my right breast is continuously hurting, I have a burning sensation under my armpit and breast. I also feel like someone is pinching me in both inner arms along with a host of other pain.

I have spoken to the Breast care nurse and she says it is probably nerve damage. I just hope it is as I am in constant anxiety that it is the cancer.

I also applied for some help with PIP but got turned down as I was able to run my business regardless.

I am trying very hard to stay upbeat and was just hoping for a bit of encouragement. Thank you.

Hi Spam

I am a breast cancer surviour of 17 years and I had the same treatment as you and I

think I had fibromylagia before due to a trauma and a case of shingles but the surgery and trauma could of set it yours off.

I still get pain in my chest and for years I got a stabbing in the area which is nerve damage.

The first years of remission are very scary but I want to reassure you it will get better it just takes time.

To help me I had terrible anxiety for 9 months.

I got myself a dog and it was the best thing I ever did as it certainly took my mind of things.

I do hope this helps

Look into your diet avoid Sugar and try if possible cook fresh foods, lots of fruit and veg.

Good luck

Hi spam

I have had a few days to think about telling you my story regarding my

radiotherapy experience as I don't want to cause you any distress, But I have decided to go ahead.

However I want to reassure you first that every case is different and also every person's side effects are different.

But here's my story

I had a strong course of 25 sessions of

radiotherapy therapy and also a boost at the end.

I thought I would not burn as I'd been in the sun all the time but alas that wasn't the case.

I was burnt over the whole breast it was very sore and painful and I blistered and peeled including my nipple.

As a result I got radiation fibrosis near the middle of my chest.

I have never been able to wear a bra since because of severe pain in the breast, ribs under my breast and spine.

I have 2 cases of shingles in the breast area since

And I have recurrent costrocondrites which is very painful. And I have been rushed to hospital twice as costrocondrites is very painful and can feel like your having a heart attack.

But I'm alive still!!

I have support from the mcmillian support line

And they are very good with help and support.

and unfortunately in my case it has effected me quite badly in the long-term.

My arms are effected however some of its radiotherapy and also the costrocondrites and the fibromylagia.

Try not to worry it is the cancer coming back.

I am so sorry it has taken so long to reply and i have to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the replies. I am trying hard to remain positive and retrain my brain which wants to torture me with worries and niggles. I am not feeling in the best of health at the moment and worry that I won't be able to continue my business as I am a sole trader. I too have these range of symptoms and I have to remind myself that they are all linked as it is very easy to think one is about to have a heart attack. On the plus side I have started a yoga course. Love to you all x
