Help me sleep!!

Hi, nice to find this forum and see people write about the stuff I am struggling with...makes me feel less alone. Thank you :-)

I find I can manage the pain a bit better if I sleep...however my insomnia is so so so awful..tried all things herbal/ behavioural--no alcohol, no screen time; a cup of camomile and a book before bed!!! etc etc. What are people's experiences of medication at night time? I have just returned to work after a couple of months off and am hardly coping but as a single Mum have to cope.. I had been on tramadol at night but it made me feel really sick and I haven't tried anything else. I can be wide wide awake from 2-3am onwards and then if able to lie in get back at 6am--but on a working day I have to get up at that time! Aaahhh....

Thanks for any inspiration

I’ve been taking Nortriptyline for the past 11 months. I currently take 20mg and it’s worked wonders for my sleep. Really helped with the fatigue during the day. I sleep really well now as previously I thought I slept well but didn’t. A Rheumatologist prescribed them. Hope you find something that helps x

Tramadol can be very strong. Ask your doctor to give you some Cyclizine for the sickness. You should also try Amitriptyline. They will relax you and help you sleep.

Hi Sailingtrio

I have very bad insomnia. My psychiatrist put me on seroquil a few years ago. I usually take 50mg but that might be too strong for you. It's the only medication that works. It's not usually prescribed for sleep disorders but it has worked for me.

I have taken tramadol but not as a sleep aid. I have taken it for fibromyalgia pain.

Hope this helps.
