Does anybody else get nights where they are physically and mentally exhausted but they just can't sleep?
Every time I started to nod off last night, my body would jolt itself awake again and I'd struggle to fall back asleep.
Pain often keeps me awake and I struggle to find a comfortable position to sleep in.
Does anybody have any suggestions on what they do to help them get a good nights sleep that doesn't involve medication?
I already practice very good sleep hygiene; no tv on in bedroom, no screens an hour before bed, only using bed for sleep, same bed time every night, try to get up at same time every day, try to limit naps during the day etc.
All comments are appreciated, as is your time! Thank you

Don't worry about whether your response is going to help. To be honest, it's just nice knowing I'm not the only one sailing in the sleepless boat.
I hope you're having a pain free day x
The only changes I made to stop this were no food after 7pm no alcohol either, i bought some Kalms and later some herbal sleepers, I too have stopped having daytime naps but I dotn think that made any difference-- IF it gets too bad ask GP for some help..
Thank you for your response Hidden . It's much appreciated.
I've spoken to my doctor and tried a short course of sleeping tablets (Zopliclone) and they helped me to sleep amazingly. Only problem is my doctor won't give me anymore as he doesn't like to use them and believes they won't actually help, despite me telling him that they have been the only way I've had a decent nights sleep in months. Wonderful.
I might try some herbal sleepers as I hadn't thought of those. I also use aromatherapy a lot as it's something I have a diploma in but Lavender is most commonly used for sleep and that gives me a migraine.
I have been using a sleep app to monitor how much sleep I get. It records how long you are in a deep sleep and shows times you wake up. It even records you snoring! I read you should go to bed at night as soon as you start to feel tired and no caffeine. 😴
Amitryplitine from doctor ..helps my pain at bedtime and lets me get a decent sleep. I’m on 3 per night but you could start on 1 to see how it goes. I had the same sleeping problems
Only suggestions I can make are practice calming routines before bed, try some chamomile tea or a relaxing bath or a cup of warm milk. ( I personally prefer the chamomile to milk) avoid caffeine entirely, try meditation or taichi. But sometimes even with all this it still doesn't help.
