Why do I sleep at night from say 10pm, get up at say 6.30am yet still feel absolutely exhausted both physically and mentally? Anyone else suffer this way? Any suggestions please?

Unfortunately it's all part and parcel of having fibromyalgia x

unfreshed sleep all part and parcel of fibro - unless like me you are a fibro insomniac then of course you don't sleep for any length of time at all. If I get 2 straight hours I count myself very fortunate. I've tried everything but some of the following may work for you

epsom salt and lavender bath just before bed

no screen time/caffeine for two hours before sleep

antidepressants work for some people

cool bedroom

herbal sleep tablets

I listen to classic fm when I wake up as it's calming in the early hours.

good luck I hope you find something that works for you. May be worth talking to your GP.

I am the same as you. Always had sleep problems but in the last few months they have really worsened. I don’t know how it’s possible to be this exhausted but unable to sleep!

that's fibro for you 😒 got to live it to understand it - hardly surprising that non fibro folk don't "get it"

Hi

I'm the same but I have other conditions where the pain keeps me awake. You all take care. Love and hugs Lynne xxxx

Yes sadly it seems to come with the condition. I don't get more than 2 hours sleep at any one go... just chronically tired all the time.

Take care and I hope it gets better for you.

Ditto! I keep reading people struggle to sleep at night but haven't noticed anyone say they sleep all night and still feel exhausted (I do wake up in the night but go back to sleep). In a weird way, it makes me feel a little better knowing it's not just me that feels this way.

I have no suggestions sadly, nothing wakes me up, I've even tried going for short walks with my Son and dog hoping that it would wake me up a bit but nope, I feel worse if anything. I've had blood tests and my levels are all normal, including vitamins.

Thank you for your reply, it is much appreciated. I feel these 'group posts' are a vital form of people hearing about others with similar problems, it really helps in a strange sort of way. We seem to just have to accept our fate but unless you suffer from fibro etc I don't think people really understand or even do not believe you? I hate the phrase, "Well you look OK"!

Definitely, sometimes you are sat wondering if you have something else wrong and then you come on sites like this and other people will mention the same sort of thing and then you don't feel so bad because you aren't the only one going through it.

I have severe anxiety (agoraphobia, possibly social anxiety) and depression, I only really bother with my Son and Mum and going to the medical centre is pointless some of the time because they don't seem to be able to help or understand how mental and physical health impact each other, even had one GP say that she thought me going for appointments would help my anxiety, well I'm sorry to say, it's never helped my anxiety, it's made it worse if anything, she didn't bother to read my medical history to see what I had actually tried to help myself both physically and mentally, she just assumed, so it makes going to see a GP that bit harder than it already is.

These kinds of forums are where I come and look for info, advice and support, there are a lot of kind, caring and understanding people on here and I'm sure I'd feel a tad worse if it wasn't for reading posts like yours.

Thanks for posting.

I sleep all night and still wake up feeling exhausted, I have issues with my blood too which doesn’t help.

I don’t know what to suggest as I am always tired regardless :(

Same. I can easily sleep 12 hours a night (but try to cut it to 8/10) but still feel absolutely knackered every morning.

Only thing that has helped is knowing I've been in bed "asleep" and forcing myself to get up and about.

healthunlocked.com/fibromya..., hi there , yes this can be quite common for Fibro sufferers especially if our bodies flare up, I have cfs too which I asked to be referred as I was comvinced not all my symptoms were down to just Fibro. I see Dinkie has recommended some useful tips some of which I do, have you had a catch up with your gp lately ?, I have posted a link above if you would like to lock your posts as this will give younmore privacy as only our community can see and not open to other site engines on the internet.

Hi, I too am in the same boat, with other conditions and allergies.

I do sleep a lot, but when getting up especially in the morning my body gets so stiff.

A few tricks I try are :- 1/ Tense up your body for a few seconds, then completely relax, Do this for a good few minutes, it does help,

2/ drink plenty of fluids mainly cooled down hot water, to refresh you.

3/ when you can stretch your body, or stand against a wall for support,

it does not cure, but help ease up the pain, stiffness, muscle spasms and cramps. Good luck. God Bless 😇
