You can mention it but won’t affect your insurance it is not one of the conditions that you need to inform the DVLA about. Hope this helps :)

Think it’s down to whether you feel able to drive comfortably, as Mdaisy says not a condition that you would need to inform DVLA, I have sleep apnea but treated so that was one I did have to inform them about and I tend to drive okay unless a flare day with fibro when I’d tend to stay in anyway. I also find short distances more comfortable not long periods of sitting at a time, but does give us our freedom driving. If you would like to lock your posts here’s a link generally gets more responses if a post is locked as only our forum can see. healthunlocked.com/fibromya... Take care

You are correct about the law on either not taking medications as prescribed, abusing prescription medications and not driving with any side effects make it unsafe to drive. Hopefully members use common sense and do not drive if this is the case. Fibromyalgia is currently not one of the listed conditions the DVLA need to know about and due to this I am assuming if mentioned to insurance it won't make a difference. desquinn will probably know more - Des? :)

Good morning. Yes that’s a fact . And it will be a common sense attitude regarding the medication.

I recently rung DVLA because i am considering trying to start driving again after about 4 years they told me Fibromyalgia was not on the list but one of the drugs Iam on is on the drugs list so have had to fill out a form and send my driving licence back with it and await their decision, I wanted to be totally legal if I decided to get behind the wheel again & because I have a morphine based patch I thought it best to report it. As far as the insurance goes it will depend on what reply I get back from DVLA. I have been advised that My insurance should not go up but I do believe in honesty is the best policy just because I would hate to have an accident and then my medical history comes out & insurance refuse to pay my claim for whatever reason. Good luck, you could get your GP’s advice next time you see him . Soft hugs

Hello good evening. Thank you so much for your very informative message, really appreciate. I don’t take morphine, I’m happy to be able to decide when to drive and not drive, because I’m very conscious about my wellbeing, I’ve a blanket, pillow and other emergency bits in the car so if I can’t drive I will be able to stay there comfortable to recover energy and be confident to drive, normally it’s after my very heavy work 12h per shift in a ward hospital , where in the end of those shifts my pains are on the other side of the moon and therefore not able even to touch the wheel of the car feeling so much pains all over. Thank you ever so much.

Kind regards

Fatima
