Hi, I was put on Duloxetine 40mg just after Christmas and I feel really good now. I take 20mg in the morning and 20 mg in the evening. It works really well for me.

Good luck

David

Hi I got some relief after 2 weeks of taking duloxetine, it's really worth a try xx

Thank you for your reply. My GP did prescribe last year but I didn't like the side effects. I've also used amitryptaline 10mg which helped me sleep but again I didn't like the side effects especially eating sweets and cakes etc which I don't usually eat.

Anyway might give the duloxetine another go.

Thanks again 😊 xx

Have you tried fluoxetine, I haven't tried that myself but I have heard that it helps. Good luck. This is a horrible condition xx

No I haven't tried it. Being a psych nurse, I get wary of antidepressants but hey ho, I guess anythi g is worth trying at this rate.

Thanks dear xx

It gets you that way that you will try anything just to make the pain more manageable. I'm a fellow nurse (adult) you are doing well getting through your shifts 😊. Have you tried magnesium and d-ribose? They both have really helped me, I didn't realise how much until I stopped taking them xx

I've tried magnesium but not the other as I've never heard of it.

It's hard some days getting up to go to work but it keeps me going.

How do you manage your time now you not working ? Xx

The d ribose helps with energy levels. I take about 4 grams a day. I buy it from Amazon or ebay. You can get it in powder form or tablets, I take the tablets. Google d-ribose for fibromyalgia, you will find loads of information on it.

I'm climbing the walls being off work, that's been 6 months now. Hoping to get back in the next month when my hydrotherapy is finished. I broke my back that's why I have been off for so long. It's definitely hard working with fibro but it helps with your mental health I think. The longer I'm off the lower my mood is getting. I'm looking forward to going back even though it's a struggle. I work with a great bunch of people that defo help me out on days the fibro is bad. I hope you get support and understanding at work xx

I'll check it for sure dear.

Sorry about your back. Hope you get well soon.

I get good days and bad days but manage most of the time.

Some people understand and others dont. Life goes in though.

Thanks for your input.

Take care xx

I take amytryptaline and that helps me to sleep. Prior to that was on citalopram which didn’t help me sleep.

Hi MazzaMazza, for me Amitriptyline works I take 30mg at night and it helps with the pain and sleep pattern. I was tried on Sertraline but the side effects were horrendous. Some people react differently to medications, some can take Duloxetine others have horrific side effects, I think the only way to try an antidepressant out is to take it for at least 3 weeks to see if the side effects wear off and whether or not you are starting to get any benefits from the drug. Best of luck xx

PS Have been really strict with myself diet wise and have been following the Slimming World plan as I know only too well meds can mess with your appetite and weight. I don't buy cakes and sweeties only for one small treat at the weekend. I have lost 3 stone 8lbs being strict with myself. x

healthunlocked.com/fibromya..., hi there , for me personally I’ve been put on 60mg. One tablet a day of duloxtene, been on it for 10mths and getting on really well. Years I was on citalopram but think my system got used to it and didn’t work as well, tried sertraline short term but didn’t fair well on that. Think trial and error till we get something that suits so wishing you well with this, I posted a link if you would like to lock your posts as only our community can see and not open to any other sitecengines on the internet. Take care

I started on Sertraline for pain. It did help to start with but I don't know if it's still having an effect. I'm not convinced about its use anymore.

If you're not sure about it's use anymore then maybe you need a review to discuss alternative?
