Hi all, I've had a number of these over the years, just had another on its as you feel your going to faint, makes one feel sick in the stomach, is it acid related if so what can one do to calm it right away. Thank you Hermes.

It could be your age, medication, thyroid etc. With me, I get it after my 3-monthly IM Depo-Medrone (steroid) injection. They tell me it’ll wear off after 2/3 days. No, it doesn’t! It gradually wears off & is almost gone when it’s time for my next jab! You really need to see your GP to find out the cause. I hope you can find out because it can be so annoying & embarrassing (especially when someone tells you you’ve got a healthy glow or you look like a beetroot! 🙄 Good luck Hermes123. Nic xx

It is a weird thing but it feels like your body has lost it’s thermostat, doesn’t it!?

are you getting steroid injections for fibromyalgia? why? How?

Blackwitch profile image
Blackwitch in reply toJanHass

Hi JanHass

I have lots of other things going on beside Fibro. I also have Rheumatoid & Osteoarthritis & I have a degenerative spine way beyond my years. I’ve had one operation in 2012 due to severe spinal stenosis & had a spacer put between L4/5 which is now the healthiest part!! I was on so many meds for so many different things, it was scary. By trial & error with lots of adverse drug reactions, the steroid injections were found to have the most positive affect on everything. I still take other meds but not nearly as many. 🙂

TempleofDoom, Very Interesting reply as to what you have suffered, so so similar to my problems, In over fifty years despite highlighting my lower back spinal L3.4.5.

as well as neck trapping spinal cord via 4. MRI. scans over a number of years.

I had a laminectomy in 1981. after a 13. year wait. My what you have had sorted out, I can only say! You had a first class support team behind you well done, never heard of a result like yours before. Thanks Hermes.

Hi Hermes123

Although I had fibromyalgia symptoms dating back to the 70’s/80’s, I didn’t think of it as anything other than it was just me! I had problems with my wrists & hands (put down to tendonitis or tenosynovitis) so I had to leave my job as a shorthand secretary (remember those?)

In 2001 I had a total hysterectomy so had to take HRT. That, I remember, was the fittest & most well I’d been in years. It lasted 3/4 years. Then the joints started swelling & the fatigue & muscle pain started. The rest is just a constant battle. I had my right knee replaced as not only do I have osteo in my knees but I had two falls on it & then our Labradoodle ran into me & finished it off!! 😂😂 x

& yes. I had a fantastic GP and Orthopaedic Surgeon & I still have a fantastic Rheumatologist who I have been with since about 12 years (probably more) & it’s him I trust more than anyone, even my GP. All the other consultants I’ve had over the years, always refer me back to my Rheumy to pull everything together. I know I’m very lucky as he tries to see me every 6 months & I see the Rheumy nurses in between for my steroid jabs. My GP surgery refuse to do them anymore! xx

photosensitivity often causes heat and sometimes a rash. Otherwise rosacea can have the same effect. I use some prescription cream if spots appear as it's a rosacea flush otherwise for heat I use aloe vera gel which takes the heat out almost immediately. May be worth mentioning to your GP

Dinkie No it's not that I have had it in the middle of winter when its freezing cold, often get the shakes and shivers with mine. Thanks any way. Hermes.

have you tried checking what you have been eating? Just because you have never had a problem with say tomatoes anyone can build up intolerant reactions.

Hermes123

Hi skit, I have eaten tomatoes for years as it is a part of Mediterranean diet of foods one is supposed to eat, but that is not my main reason for doing so. I just like salad foods.

Thanks any way. Hermes.

I was just using tomatoes as an example not the only foodstuff with which anyone can build up issues .

Hi, skit, yes I understand where you were coming from, certain foods cad disagree with one's self, but I don't have the luxury of trying different foods only on odd occasions ! So most of the time it's same old same old, that evening it was shepherds pie... Thanks for your kind concern. Hermes.

NurseGladys123, I think you are nearer the mark to this problem, already on a mixture of 18. pain killers a day plus a morphine patch about three months ago, I know this messy with my head, I have been waiting to see a Consultant for three months to talk about my medication, at last have an appointment March 15. I certainly will be discussing this situation with, thanks for your reply. Hermes.

Hi NurseGladys (can’t help but giggle at your name)!

How did you get on with your Consultant? xx

Hermes123 profile image
Hermes123 in reply toBlackwitch

Hermes123

TempleofDoom, Very well indeed! We had a very constructive two way discussion about my medication and were both of the same conclusion, firstly the Beutec patch went, reason was it was causing more harm than good, and medical thinking was it should not be use for people suffering long term pain. Item two when I was prescribed Co-dydramol I should of been taken off Paracetamol right away, not be given half of each medication, so the Paracetamol had to go right away, its only been one week I feel a different person already? Thanks a bunch Hermes.

Hermes123,

Hi NurseGladys123, in my case it turned out to be my old friend from the past, returned once again "Acid" I was given Ranitidine Tab's 300 MG. In the past I had suffered with duodenal ulcers. Hope this helps. Hermes

I'm 68 and have had fibro for about a year. Have startded with face flushes in the last few months. Just assuming its part of fibro and linked to temperature control problems in fibro. Seems to be trggered by stress and getting excited or enjoying myself as its otherwise known!
