Falling over

Hi does anyone suffer from losing balance and falling over. I’m often with bumps and bruise and black eyes. I mentioned to the doctor who referred me to physio, went to this appointment and was told nothing new. The physio then told the go that it was an ‘inappropriate referral’.

Hope someone out there can help , tips and advice most appreciated.

Hi, I have bouts of losing my balance and falling over. I just try to make sure I'm standing firmly before I attempt to walk anywhere. Sounds simple but take your time, don't rush and stand slowly when getting up from sitting to standing. I fall mostly when I crouch down. I have taken a few tumbles when I rush to do things. Hope this helps you a little x

Thanks, I appreciate that it’s yet another part of fibro. I was diagnosed 21 years ago , nothing was known about. I’m glad that medicine has caught up, just need dwp to catch up.

Thanks

Hello

I have balance and dizzy spells although it’s part of fibromyalgia I’ve also been told it MVBD ( migraine varient balance disorder and essential tremor . I have days that I feel like a quivering wreck and if I should go out which is rare I do get embarrassed . I’ve managed to knock my self out twice once I fell in the kitchen and went head first into the oven door and when I fall over I can’t get up on my own as I’ve had knee replacements . Another time I fell of the umberella chair landed on the frame and managed to bash my head on the main frame . I fall at least three times a week , often it’s in my bedroom where I can land on the bed . I live on my own so it can be frustrating .i can’t close my eyes if I’m standing or I I live in my bedroom now for that reason . I have a friend that I phone if I need him but I hate the dizziness I feel sick a lot of the time . It’s so evil . Makes me wonder what’s next. Try and stay calm which I know is flaming hard .

Oh you poor thing. Being on your own and dizzy is not a good combination. I feel for you because I have Ménière’s as well as CFS/fibro but my husband lives with me. When he goes on holiday I get really scared what with all the falls and walking into doorframes and stuff. Anxiety kicks in when you’re dizzy too. Sending you a little hug

Many Fibro fighters have balance issues and fall; My last one was losing my balance on the stairs 2 weeks ago. Huge black bruises, but the GP can't really do anything, Been to the local Falls Group to learn about the mechanics and how to lessen the chances of it happening again, moving to a bungalow soon, so one less problem.
