His Kujude, I have taken this medication for over a year, but nothing changes it did upset my stomach at some point, now Im on omeperazole 40mg instead of 20mg. Good luck! ! Hope it works for you.

I,m sorry to say this type of medication is not for evryone, what have you tried in conventional pain relief, if anything?

For myself I couldn’t deal with the pain without it and take 300mg twice a day. Despite its bad reputation due to a few who abuse it and have prescription addiction, it can be used for pain and can be very beneficial for many with Fibro.

It is in the EULAR Recommendations for Fibro, as well as other medications and therapies - pls see link below

It can have side effects but so can all medication and lots seem to experience a lot of weight gain. Some people find they cannot take it while others find it beneficial. It’s a case of what works for one may not work for another.

I have been taking them for over 11yrs with no problems, yes I’ve put on weight but my pain levels are bearable. For me the benefits outweigh any possible risks and mean I can keep everyday pain under control with Tramadol SR too. Minimal breakthrough/flare pain and on these rare occasions I take something stronger. I hope you find the medications and other therapies/coping mechanisms that is right for you :)

Hope this helps answer your question and the link is of interest

Emma :)

Hi Emma! I also take 600mg a day and it has helped dramatically. You mentioned that you take other meds for when you have flare ups - do you mind sharing what works for you alongside Pregabalin please? I have been struggling with my flare ups and the doctors haven’t been able to advise on anything to date... thank you 🙏🏻

Hello Rach0907

I have Oramorph and Fentanyl patches at my disposal if needed but I very rarely use them. The best way to get flares under control would be looking at stress reduction and also pacing (doing the same activity per day not pushing & crashing) Many people with Fibromyalgia get caught up in a cycle of boom and bust and it is helpful to get away from this as the flares are always much worse in this situation. What else have you tried? Have you ever been prescribed Capasacin Cream? I would use this before reaching for strong Opioids as they really are there for use when I am in extreme pain.

Here's a link to the cream....

It is probably not advisable if sensitive to medications as it is very hot and would require gloves to put on and a 24hr patch test. It is said to reduce the amount of Substance P we have naturally and research has reported we have 3 times the amount compared to health controls - it's a substance excitable to pain.

Hope this helps

Emma :)

Thanks Emma. There’s nothing really, I just try and take it easy and stay warm and have lots of baths... it’s tough though and takes its toll which I’m sure everyone on here can relate to. I am going to try reflexology. I will definitely look into using the cream, haven’t heard of it before! Have a great week x

It has certainty helped with the burning and shooting pains which before I started with it were horrendous. Unfortunately, I can only tolerate a dose of about 150mg a day as otherwise it makes me feel too lethargic and headachy.x

I think as it is hardly used and not a long term thing this is why I have it, as it is not recommended for Fibromyalgia pain as the risks outweigh the benefits. ;)

I hardly use it only when desperate...... but it helps when it's needed Thanks :)
