Just a follow up on my previous post. I heard from cardiologist after heart scan. They are recommended starting taking aspirin and statins. Waiting on doc to see if she wants to prescribed this. I then had blood tests a fortnight ago to check my liver function and now that has come back abnormal so I have to get a scan done of my liver. This has hit me hard as it just seems one thing after another. It just feels like all these problems have started since I was diagnosed with fibro. Was wondering if anyone has had other health issues that have started since diagnosis. Sorry for long message but know you all understand.
Thanks.

Raised cholesterol can be caused by low thyroid - Hypo. Before thyroid testing became available in the early 70's anyone with raised cholesterol had their thyroids treated. Many people once correctly treated for their thyroid find cholesterol normalises. However cholesterol is important and much needed in the body - the brain is 25% cholesterol. Also needed for hormone production. Raised cholesterol does not cause heart issues but low thyroid can.
Low thyroid hormones can be the cause of a sluggish liver too which can raise the enzymes.
Have you had your thyroid correctly tested - TSH - FT4 - FT3 & Thyroid anti-bodies TPO & Tg - the NHS rarely does them and only test the TSH. This tells you very little about how your thyroid is performing and keeps people unwell - undiagnosed and undertreated ...
Statins can cause atherosclerosis - blocking of the arteries - as statins also block VitK2. This vitamin directs calcium away from arteries and into bones and teeth. On my phone so not able to post link to research paper 😊
Do you know your VitD level ? If below 100 you may benefit from supplementing ...
The above link takes you to Dr Kendrick who writes about what really causes heart disease. He also wrote the book - The Great Cholesterol Con. You can find him on YouTube. I have listened to him at two conferences in the UK and read his books. Well worth a look.
hi paige- i'm sorry but once get diagnosed with fibro i'm not sure if because they do so many tests they find many other health issues or if they just come along as times goes by. it's not easy and can be scary so hope you have people who can explain things to you. so often i;d get a result back that sounded awful only to find out it was just fine. get as much help as you can. good luck,,,,
I agree with Nadine. When they do loads of tests then find Fibro some other stuff comes to light. I had collapsed artery in one arm treated. It's not all bad quite the reverse once you are on the radar you can follow up issues if NHS lets you slip through the cracks.
Take Violetta's to heart just crack on & be positive
