I have been having pain while my bladder has anything in it. I have days of severe urgency. During these bouts I have horrific pain and passing minute amounts of urine with blood I it. I am unable to leave the toilet during these bouts 9 hrs 3 weeks ago. I have just had camera in my bladder which has shown nothing sinister. I have had ct scan and scan for stones. Nothing there. The urologist has discharged me ( I had emergency appointment after having to go to a & e ) they found blood. And referred urgently. Urologist has told me to drink nothing but water !! I am at a loss as to what to so to help myself as when the severe ones are happening I just scream( it worse than labour although feels like labour. Please can anyone help me ? Thanks.

It's funny you mention your bladder, I have had all the tests you have had. I am constantly having infections which have spread to my kidneys which made me very ill. All the tests show nothing untoward but am still suffering. The only thing the doctor mentioned was that I don't empty my bladder properly. I am now working on this by sitting a little longer on the loo till I think I have done. I don't know if there is a connection with fibro. I had a bladder op seven years ago for incontinence. Hope there will be many other replies on this issue.

I have similar problems and I catheterise nightly so the bladder doesn't have anything in it when I go to sleep, I have been told to avoid caffeine, and fizzy drinks, and take prophylactic (preventative) antibiotics. Can I ask, did you have a high temp and kidney pain, or pain in the stomach, or was it just pain on passing urine? All of these a very painful, so whichever it is you have my sympathy. A lot of us seem to have bladder symptoms, and I myself have been through a battery of test and am about to begin again, the only answer I have ever been given , though, is "you are prone". I hope you feel better soon, try drinking cranberry juice every day, its said to make your bladder inhospitable to bacteria by changing the pH of urine.

My ongoing pain is stabbing and clearly feels in bladder area with urgency feeling. This is every day. My bouts of utter urgency are so bad that I cannot get off the toilet tbis goes on several hrs. During that time I have had an overbearing urge as if in labour and my whole bladder feels as if it's turning inside out. At this point I pass drops of urine and this is when the blood appears and it is prob more than the urine. This stops and then the bearing down feeling stops. But then it happens again. It can go as quickly as it came but I spent 9 hrs on toilet 3 weeks ago. My gp came and said little although he could clearly see what was happening. I eventually called an ambulance. The urogist has said he cannot do anything. Although I should ring for ambulance if it starts again.

I meant to say if I bleed again so they can see what's happening :)

Ooopss! If you have interstitial cystitis cranberry juice is the last thing you would want! Best not risk it. :-)

Hello Lambchop-1,

The symptoms you are describing are quite similiar to what I have experienced with a condition called Interstitial Cystitis. Here's a link for your interest;

patient.co.uk/doctor/inters...

This isn't Fibro , however it is a condition that people with Fibro may also have at some point but not always. Obviously, I'm not a Doctor so you would need to consult your Health Professionals but I thought it was worth mentioning.

I hope this helps

Emma :)

I have read the links thank you. It sounds line mine but no one seems to mention the bearing down most severe pain and the urologist showed me my bladder and everything looked fine. He does not know where the blood is coming from ? :)

Hello Lampchop-1,

Just logged on and saw your comment, may I ask is it a lot of blood ie: a worrying amount or just a bit that could maybe linked to inflammation or trauma to the bladder/urethra lining ?? Does the blood loss get better when on Antibiotics? I am just wondering as I say I am not a Doctor, so wouldn't like to say.

I wonder if there is a group or charity about IC that you could also ask these questions too. Is there a HU group at all, please don't forget about us tho' !

Hope it is OK and not to bad today

He looked at my bladder and found nothing it all looked perfect. The blood coming with the bearing down pain just happens after several hrs of the severe pain and need to just sit on loo. He was quite condescending and patronising. However he did say if it starts again to go straight into hospital. Prob be better to look at it when it's at worst. Thanks :)

Hi Emma thanks the blood loss only occurs when I have been in agony for a while. The bearing down feels like the whole bladder is wrenching over at this point the bleeding comes in the urine or with the urine. I can only pass minute drops at this time and there seems to be more blood. It is in my urine but stops when the bearing down stops. ? :)

Hello,

I think maybe asking someone who has experienced blood loss with IC if you can find a group may be your best bet, that's of course if it is IC. You say the symptoms seem similiar, didn't you? I never had any blood loss with my experience of IC, so don't know what else to say sorry.

We all go through so many things. I do really hope you get some relief soon as I do remember when mine was at it worst and I was hospitalised. This might be interesting to you that mine did improve as time went on, so I sincerely hope this is the case for you too:)

Please let us know how you get on and if you find out anymore about a diagnosis.

Best Wishes

Emma :)

Hi there, it does sound as tho you have cystitis , the other thing about emptying your bladder , the Gyny nurse told me that when you go to the loo for either you must lean forward with arms on your knees this helps to empty the bladder completely, if you think about it a dog squats and by putting your arms on you legs your in the squatting position yourself, makes sense, the human race hasn't always had loo's....mind you my muscles in my bladder have almost completly given up due to the fibro, have had many many embarrassing moments, hooray for Tenna's i guess., LOL ....hoping you soon get some relief...gentle hugs....Dee xx

I think there is a link between interstitial cyctitis and fibromyalgia but you should seek urologist or rheumatologist advice.

best wishes

Hi Lambchop-1

I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you can be today? I am so sorry to read that you are having this horrid suffering at this time.

I hope that you do not mind me posting a reply (I am a man), but I wanted to tell you about a medication that I was prescribed for bladder problems. It is called 'Oxybutynin Hydrochloride tablets'.

I had an accident in November last year and hurt myself quite badly, one of the problems was going to the toilet to often and not being able to empty my bladder when I went. This drug enables me to go to the toilet properly. I was told to urinate as normal, and then to try urinating again, and it really has worked for me!

As I am not a doctor, I do not know if it will work for you, but it may be worth discussing with your GP? I genuinely hope that you can find some resolution and relief to this issue.

I have mentioned this medication on here once before, must really like embarrassing myself.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Hi Lambchop-1

I am so sorry to read the 'Oxybutynin Hydrochloride tablets' didn't work for you, I am happy to read the buscopan does help with the pain however.

I think if I were you I would keep going back to the doctors with this, as it really does need resolving. I genuinely hope that you can get this issue sorted out soon.

Take care and good luck
