Hi all, I've developed fibromyalger through having lupus. I'm looking for any information regarding any assistance we can have while out and about. Are we allowed to use disabled toilets and sit in disabled designated areas?? And if so is there something I can produced if challenged why I'm sitting there?? Thank you xx

thats a real tough one to answer really, as the disease reacts differently with every sufferer, what affects some, wont affect all, as for being classed as a disability, that tends to be a grey area in most places, it should be classed as a disability in my eyes, but i dont make the rules ☹️

This is what I'm finding out. It's very grey isn't it. We've got a condition that can make getting about hard, but still have to stand and que and sit in seats that aren't near the door. Doesn't seem right some how x

I can hear what you are saying- I recently sat on the front seat of a bus and an elderley chap got on and waved his stick at me to move, I was so cross, I told him he didnt need 2 seats and that because I might look a bit younger than him and have better manners, I too have a disbaility and will sit where I see fit,, the bus driver told me when I was getting off he does that evryday and that he,d love to stop him going on his buses. No is the answer really you do not have to justify yourself to anyone or carry a badge, just give them hell politely if you are approached about where you go, and sit, disabled loos are not just for disabled people either, anyone desparate can use them, although this should not be abused by able bodied except in extreme emergencies.

Thank you. Wouldn't it be great if we could have some kind of identification. I hate people being rude to me. Grow a thick skin I suppose x

Yes it seems these days if you dont have a stick or push a trolley, you are able bodied, people are so judgemental sometimes. I was waiting to see an orthopaedic surgeon last month for a cocxy injection and I was wondering, another person asked me to sit down I was annoying her- I told her I couldnt I had a sore Ar*** and was waiting to have injection- that shut her up!!

😂I like your sense of humour! Good for you. It's this problem of looking ok on the outside isn't it ......

I have a badge/card from Transport for London (TFL), the badge says 'please offer me a seat' and the card explains that not all disabilities are visible. I'm not sure if I can post the link, but here it is: tfl.gov.uk/transport-access... or google 'please offer me a seat' and TFL
