you need to report this ars****e and get this doctor struck off. I look like I am pregnant with my stomach but can't lose any weight as I can't be mobile like I used to be. please see another doctor and seek some help. my big stomach has been like it for 3/4 years. all of a sudden piled 3 stone on and can only think it maybe all the meds I take but then I don't really know. my weight has never been mentioned. xx

Hey Ashbash,

Don't let a stupid dr get you down, fight back. definitely make a complaint if theybsaid all your pain comes from being overweight! My dr said my smoking was the problem and if i stopped it would all go away! I have RA, Fibro, diabetes and several other conditions but they will all go away if I stop smoking!!!

If your pain is too much at the moment is there anyone who can give you a break or help with stuff?

Amanda

Hi I put on weight through meds and I can't walk as fast anymore my doctor has been great - change your doctor - come on -. Pull up for your boys - they need you - you are stronger than you think - don't let this awful illness beat you -. Do some things you love - get happy people around you - eat well. And think of the best things around you - spoil yourself now and then -. Come on

Please hang in there and keep thinking that you will come out of this horrible flare. I felt like you a few weeks ago. It was really scary. Then I realised that my family were too important and I had to fight. You must get a good gp who understands. I eventually have seen a really nice one who has put me on a very low dose of sertraline. It really has helped my mood. I wasn’t depressed as such just very low mood because of my pain and fatigue. Your sons need you and you need them. Keep searching for the help that you deserve and keep talking to the lovely supportive people on this site. I do hope that you feel a little better soon. X

I’m so sorry you had to go through that, until about 11yrs ago I maintained a size 14 figure by constantly dieting and exercise, my back went big time and 4 surgeries among other things and medication being introduced followed so gradually I have put on a lot of weight, I have never been told fibro is due to weight but constantly get told it would help to lose weight, I have tried so hard over the last 10 yrs but just cannot lose it, don’t listen to a doctor that clearly shouldn’t be doing the job he/she is doing, I too had a long period when suicide felt like the only option, and I felt a burden to my children (still do often) my husband also left in 2011 because I am not the women he married, I have just exploded (his words) about my weight.

But you sons do need you and you just have to keep fighting, I’m here if you want a chat

Take care xxx

Hi, take no notice of the Dr. There are lots of conditions caused by being overweight so she is probably blinded by that, but not Fibro.

Do as advised and see another doctor.

My personal theory is that Fibro pain is our body's heightened response to some other irritant.

Some years ago my Fibro was awful and as well i had terrible IBS so I started taking a tablespoon of whole golden linseeds each day just washed down with a drink. These are known to protect your gut from irritants. Then I swopped my milk to the lactose free version which tastes the same as normal milk and you can buy most places now.

Finally I stopped white bread and went for the seeded or unsliced wholemeal bread or low GI rolls..

After about 3-4 weeks any bowel problems I had began to reduce and also my joint pain. Two years on I manage without pain meds and I no longer have IBS

I joined slimming world to reduce my weight a little and of course that didn't cure Fibro but it helped take some pressure off my knees and more importantly boosted my self esteem by showing me I could have some control of how I looked.

Finally I take myself off for a 30 minute walk most days, even when I don't fancy it. Most times I come back feeling better, if only psychologically.

Please please don't leave your sons without a mother. It will cause them so much pain, they will blame themselves and make them feel so worthless and insignificant.

You are in a dark place but like the night day will follow. Put on your favourite music, look up some funny clips on Utube, a hobby or anything that for a little while makes you feel a tiny bit better or just distracts you from those negative thoughts.

Big big virtual hug to you sweetheart x

I take the "it's your weight" comment by a dr as either "I haven't a clue what to do" or "I really can't be ar**** doing anything" My daughter was told the same for osteo arthritis and a friend was told the same 35 years ago ( note to her dr, you were wrong, she had a brain tumour!)

In other words, it's a sign of a rubbish dr., Thin people get ill too and if we know meds often contribute to weight gain and obviously we can't exercise as we used to, then surely a doctor should know that.

Try all the non- med remedies for pain. Soak in a bath daily with magnesium or Epsom salts, take turmeric. Try some meditation online ( very relaxing, I've found) and a new GP.

My dr said same weigh was causing pain so I lost three stone and was in more pain go figure Drs aren't always right but they can make you feel bad about yourself. Don't let them report GP to PALS all information is on net if you put PALS in search box least you want is an apology and your pain to be taken serious. That dr cannot feel your pain so shouldn't be fobbing you off. Good luck Hun xxxxxxxx love n gentle hugs xxxxx

I suffer from severe pain and fatigue. I struggle to keep my weight up. I’m just over 7 stone and I have fibro! Definitely get a new, understanding gp. Xx

Im so sorry to hear your in so much pain right now and feeling as low as you are. Your dr is bang out of order fibro has nothing to do with weight. If your pain is this bad you should go to a&e as they will give you stronger meds to help. If you tell them how you are feeling they will also help to get some support sorted for you too. Please hang in there as im sure this flare will settle soon enough. Remember we are all here for you. Sending gentle hugs of support your way xx

I know the pain is tough. I am feeling awful. Nothing in life is worth suicide. I am overweight but try to keep active. I do need to loose weight but don't find it easy. I can understand for example if the Doctor asked me to loose weight as it has so many other health implications being overweight. You will get through it.

Yes . I don’t think people understand how difficult it is to keep your weight at a healthy level if you are permanent nauseous and feeling ill. Don’t give up - there will be better days ahead! X
