Osteoporosis options

i have a tendency to have bad reactions to many of the meds i have tried. i understand this is a typical problem for those of us who have fibro. i also have terrible gut issues so my options for meds to take for osteoporosis are limited. has anyone had any luck with the two options available? i've put off taking care of this watching my hip get worse and worse. because i'm so anxious about the possibility of having side effects that can last 6 months or a year i've put it off. i've got to do something now. would really appreciate any suggestions..

thanks,

leslie

hi, i take vitamin d and calcium. i think the infusion needs to be done once a year while the injection is twice a year. i talked to my immunologist about breaking up the infusion giving me a bit one day and spreading it out. she did some investigating. has to be all at one time. am just going to have to bite the bullet. i've upped my dosage of vit. d and calcium plus a mix of vitamins/herbs for a year. didn't help at all. thanks for your input. keep your fingers crossed....

K2 helps to pull the calcium from your blood and put it into your bones. Also my rheumatologist said to buy strontium and boron supplements. They greatly strengthen your bones , I live in the US in California. I have osteoporosis but have never broken a bone. I cannot take the infusion or injections as I’ve had lung cancer and the injections/infusion can cause lung trauma and I could die

Hi nadine111, Research has proved that CBD helps in the process of building new bone. I can recommend Entourage Aqua (purple bottle) from Simply CBD. I’ve tried several brands and types now and this works out the best ( for me). Sales also support a dog rescue centre. It will also help your fibro too.

Have a look at my previous posts on CBD. I’ve swapped to this one because it’s more effective, but also cheaper. I’m taking one squirt 3 x day, to help my fractured lumbar vertebrae that won’t heal. CBD has enabled me to come off all fibro meds.

Hope this helps. x

Thought you might be interested in this article and research, on probiotics increasing bone strength by 50% in older women.

I’ve been taking Opt-Bac Everyday for several years & it’s had a huge effect on my asthma & my tremor. Looks like it’s been helping my bones too.

I did have a go at doing my own Kefir, but I lost it when I had a flare. It needs feeding & the weather milk changing daily, or most days, tho it will go dormant in the fridge for a week or two.

From the Bone Health forum:

A more accessible article here dailymail.co.uk/health/arti...

This is a very long scientific article dated 2017 but it looks like there is some benefit in probiotics for bone health.

Here is the link to my CBD help sheet Peggy.

bit.ly/CBDHints1

It will open automatically. If you google CBD and your kidney condition, you should be able to see if CBD is likely to be helpful.

It can interact with medication, if you have been told not to eat grapefruit, it is best not to take CBD or turmeric/curcumin - I’ve covered that in the help sheet. I really feel for you, fingers crossed this will be of help to you. Rosey x

If anyone is else is reading this, feel free to download the file. No sign up or email address necessary, it is just the information I’ve gathered over 3 years of taking CBD. 🙂

I really feel for you Peggy. Your daughter is probably only looking out for your best interests , but she must appreciate that you do need effective pain relief. Try searching Google for CBD and Dr Jocker or Dr Mercola, both have excellent articles explaining how CBD and the endocannabolid system works and how it is a natural body process. Maybe she will see that it could be an alternative for you to opioids. I can’t comment on the suitability with your other health conditions, but if you leave a comment at the end of on either doctor’s article, you might get some better qualified answers. My heartfelt apologies for not replying to you sooner. I don’t get on here very often at the moment. I’m so sorry that I’m unable to help you, I only have my own experience of taking it myself. I hope you find a solution that you’re both happy with soon. Take care, Rosey xx

Thinning bones? Scary!! 👻 I couldn't take drs meds for my bones Ew! So bad for tum😫 bones thinning due to tummy issues n tummy meds. Oopsie!😌 Meds causing more issues again!! 😔There is always a downside hey?😝 My answer don't know if it's working for my bones, there is no rescanning,🤔 is a regime of excellent probiotics, d3 K2 calcium rich foods . Gotta fix tum to digest enough good stuff for bones. Leafy greens good for bones if tum can cope.🙄 GERD indigestion n like all can be helped by fixing gut bacteria which for us long suffering is gonna be a life long process. Read up about probiotics😎 n fixing gut bacteria issues. Find what suits you. I find prebiotics upset my tum😥 so can't use the probiotics with prebiotics.

Certain odd things have been an issue for me. Gluten in anything even a trace. Gluten free items with the gum binders guar gum xanthum gum😵 etc really awful for me n long lasting. Find your triggers. Processed foods😨 hopeless because so many ingredients. Keep diet plain n simple. Fruit vegetables to what you can manage protein n some simple carbs. If you have tummy issues giving up loved processed treats👿 is easier coz a happy tum is a luxury worth a little sacrifice😇. It has been for me anyway😁

thanks so much. i am trying to do much of what you suggested for a couple years now. i think my tummy issues with most fruits and veggies doesn't help. i try to stick to the fodmap diet but it's difficult. i admit to needing a sweet at night usually a small piece of cake or gelato. swear it settles my stomach. i do need to go back to being more careful about my triggers. i've been dealing with so many issues at one time that i haven't been paying as much attention to what i'm eating. again thanks much...

thanks. i do take vit. d and calcium plus probiotics. my gastro has decided that all my gut problems are a result of the pain meds i take. just because i've had same gut issues for 40 years and taking pain meds for maybe 6-7 years this is his answer. now i have nothing to help my gut. i use ginger but only helps a bit. tried peppermint oil with bad results. i can go for the infusion. i'm worried about side effects which i've heard can be bad or could be fine. it's never easy, is it?

Nadine. You’re right it isn’t easy. I reciently found an article in a health magazine which said charcoal can detoxify your stomach/ intestines and lemon balm calms the stomach. It works for me . I’ve had ulcers that have healed but still have a touchy stomach. Give it a try

Fruit n veg are my nightmare. And fibre. Probiotics have helped n there is more I can eat but it's slow progress. I was a vegetarian once! Now that diet would finish me. It's very hard. Can't blame you for odd sweet treats. But it's still encouraging imbalance between good n bad bacteria. Like you say something sweet is settling. It is hard when you know what to do for health, but tum says no
