This week I have been feeling a little low and emptional. I have been having acupuncture for the last five weeks at the pain clinic. However, the night or day after having it some my pain increased.
After speaking to my pain nurse, she said that 1% of people can have an increase in pain caused by the acupuncture treatment. She phoned on Monday and said that I should stop the acupuncture.
I understand that it's properly a good idea as my pain was worse, but can't help feeling frustrated. I've tried so many treatments & was really hoping acupuncture would work.
In really upset about it, mostly about the unknown and what will happen next. My multidisciplinary team at the pain clinic are meeting on Monday to discuss what will happen next, as pain nurse is running out of options so it's back over to the consultants.
I feel like Im running out of options and that Im in a constant flare, my pain is showing no sign of easing, it's only getting worse.

You poor love!!! I can see how that works, and you've done so well trying new and different things. May I ask what made you cry particularly? Frustration or pain or a combination? And how's the wrist?
Can I also ask whether you are taking your prescribed medicines? You have quite a mix and I can only echo Emma's advice when trying different things. Seek GP's opinion. You don't necessarily see all the possible undesirable events or whatever they call side effects these days. Vitamin D deficiency (why don't we call it rickets anymore?) can cause pain on its own and B12 can ease IBS but only for some causes. It's rare to see supplements causing problems but it's easy to overdo.
I think I cry about the frustration and the pain, I'm finding it really hard to cope with both and at times I feel as if crying helps me release my frustration. My wrist is healing nicely & my brace is off now, still getting the off bit of pain depending on what I have been using it for, just need to be careful what was I push and pull things.
I'm taking a few prescribed medications ... Pregablin 600mg, Dulxotine 60mg, Co-codomol 30/500mg, Tramadol 100mg and Severdol 10-30mg when needed. Thanks for your advice, I am still looking into the natural options and will take a list to my GP to see what she thinks.
You're doing the right things. I hope you get a speedy answer to your prayers. Please log in here and have a rant among people who really understand what you're going through. More gentle hugs.
Can't sleep at the moment, so I thought I'd see what's going on here! Read your post and felt really, really sad for you.I also have the feeling of utter frustration when things don't go to plan!! But I also believe that I make myself and my symptoms worse by beating myself up about it. I don't know the full story and I hope I haven't upset you more, I just wanted you to know that its o.k to be sad and emotional with the kind of "poop" that we have to suffer daily!.......Deep breath my lovely and relax...xx
Likewise. Thought I was getting a handle on the sleep thing then my toilet started gurgling. I'd actually managed to nod off. With water 3' from my flat I cant but think they're related. Waiting for water company. . .
My frustration and upset has made my symptoms worse and I am still suffering, so much pain. Thanks for you message and encouragement, it's good to know that I'm not the only one who gets frustrated when things don't go to plan! Hope your having a good week, C xx
I read your post with a very heavy heart for the emotional turmoil that you are currently suffering. I underwent acupuncture and it didn't work for me either, so they stopped it. My pain was increasing with every visit, so it is probably for the best to have it stopped. I don't know what else you have tried? but there are always alternatives and possibilities so please do not lose hope. I sincerely hope that when you see the pain management team again that they have something new for you to try, and that it works brilliantly for you.
Thanks for your comment. That's a shame acupuncture never worked for you either, I suppose it is a good thing that I stopped it as was getting worse each week. I'm waiting to hear back from the pain team, so fingers crossed something comes up that I can try.

I am so sorry to here you are having such a bad time at the moment. When I was on duloxetine I suffered from terrible depression. The medication was suppose to help my pain but did nothing for that at all. I wasn't depressed before I went on the medication so I knew I needed to come off it. It was so bad that I couldn't see any point in life. My doctor suggested acupuncture but I told her the hospital had previously said I couldn't have that because of my epilepsy. I also suffered from crying myself to sleep a lot due to pain, depression and exhaustion. I am currently going through the process of coming off duloxetine and then I have to see what the next step is. One thing I do know is that I don't want to go on another anti depressant if it makes me feel so bad as I have. I am still currently working 4 days but struggling every day so not sure how long I will be able to continue working. I totally understand what you are going through. Sending you very gentle hugs. Carole
hi Carole so sorry to hear you too are having a bad time, depression is so cruel-being in that black hole. I have fibm and ra suffer from bad depression and been on many antidepressants and know what you mean about them making you worse. I don't like the feelings they can give you but I now take 1/2 a sertraline(antidepressant) daily, no foggy feeling just takes the edge off my depression and makes life a little easier. it is such a minute amount you would not think it could do anything, but I only have to miss it to know its value. perhaps you could talk to your doctor about this medication. That aside I hope you are feeling a little better. Trish
Hi Charli so sad to hear you're having such a rough time of it and when something doesn't work the way we wish it to its normal to feel deflated and upset.
I'm wishing the team find a solution for you so that you can settle and feel a lot better.
I''m sending you fibro flare busting fluffie cuddles infused with positive vibes Charli to help ease the pain and sadness
It's my next opinion so I'm feeling your pain. You did the right thing with your frustration you came on here had a vent and there's so many ace people on here they're likely to have some ideas. Good luck gentle hugs x
Sorry you're having trouble finding something to help. Like phlebo, I was going to suggest reflexology. It's used widely in palliative care to help with pain and is increasingly being used to help with pain in childbirth. If it's something you'd like to look into send me a message and I'll point you in the right direction to find a properly qualified and vetted practitioner in your area (sadly people can go on a weekend course and call themselves reflexologists). You might find someone who specialises in light-touch reflexology more suitable as that's likely to be more comfortable for you. Hope you find relief soon xx
I can understand your frustrations as you try different things with fresh hope it will help only to find it doesn't, it is normal to be upset. I've been there at the beginning when everything I tried either gave very temporary relief or didn't work at all, it really makes you feel you'll not find anything that will help, but I sincerely hope you will. I did, so please keep strong
I wonder if you may need a referral to a Fibro Specialist or to
Guys London NHS to the Rheumatologist there. Could you discuss this with your GP maybe?
The DR's there are Dr Garood & Dr Irving if your GP asks for a contact name
There is also the FMS Clinic, which after the sad passing of Professor Davies patients are now under the care of Dr Jenner, here's the link;
Here is a post about Topical Creams also, as I got some relief from a cream I have mentioned but it doesn't suit everyone as you'll see from the comments;
Hi charlie_red, I'm so sorry you are having such a rubbish time and not getting the hoped for relief from the acupuncture! I can understand how it makes you feel like you are running out of options and leaves you feeling very dejected.
Mdaisy has given lots of good ideas, as have the others, we all feel for you and care about how you are feeling. I hope that someone soon comes up with a treatment that works for you.
I think the weather is causing a lot of us to have flares and to be feeling very depressed, I'm struggling, but not to the same degree that you are, so I am sending lots and lots of positive healing vibes your way and hoping very much that they help you
Foggy x
Just sending you lots of hugs, it sounds as though you need them at the moment ..sue..xxxxx
I am sorry to hear you are in constant pain, without relief - I know what that is like and it sucketh big time
Do you have someone to support you at home?
It is so frustrating when you cannothelp but get your hopes up when a new treatment option is offered, ans hten feel let down when it does not work, or not as much as it could.
Don't forget - we are all here for you - your post is at least clear and eloquent - I have ranted inanely in frustration on this forum and hte kind folks here put up with me, and understand - which is a blessing.
I live at home with my parents and my boyfriend provides support too. However, at times I think they get frustrated too as I am in constant pain, it must be hard for them to understand because they don't have fibro, but they do try and be supportive.
I do feel a little better after having a rant, just feel sorry for all you folk that have to read it haha. That's what I love about this forum, you can rant and rave about all sorts and there will always be someone there to read it and understand.
