Good morning everyone, everywhere. Your advice/experience needed please. My orthopaedic Dr has just recommended I go swimming 2 or 3 times a wk to help breastbone injury etc. This is OK but I'm worried about energy levels as they are zero just now, chronic fatigue & /or fibro taking hold. So, I have to walk in high temperatures to get to hotel who kindly agreed to me using their pool, swim, walk back.
Also, he recommends seeing mental health practitioner, saying it will help with PTSD and pain
Your thoughts please

Hi, I would definitely give the swimming a try! Even if you only manage to float on the warm water, I find going swimming once a week is very beneficial. But remember, don't overdo it, just take it at your own pace, and take plenty of rest, I definitely feel much better afterward s, perhaps your orthopaedic doctor could refer you for a course of proper hydrotherapy? Take care xxx
Swimming should help as you will be weightless as you swim, take it very slowly and build up your routine, take a light umbrella to help shade you from the sun, use a stick if you need one, just take everything at a gentle pace hun, sending big hugs 🤗🤗🤗🤗💐
Swimming yes if warm pool as hotels you should be OK.
With the PTSD there is help out there but the mental health on the NH is underfunded and you get the Psychiatrist they give you dos not mean he is up on PTSD but you may be lucky 🍀
We have DID because of PTSD from small child 🧒 our Psychiatrist is nice but can not amit he doesn’t now another about DID 🤦🏼♂️

Hi from Nurse Gladys Emanuel (open all hours) not sure about the swimming but I use hydrotherpay weekly the water is 32 degrees not for swimming but for unwinding those tired muscles and joints with an excercise programme supported by a specialist physio, maybe find out if there is any near you, the concentration on the programme they give you does take your mind of "other issues" and you will meet people who can give you lots of tips maybe make new friends who understand what we suffer better.
