Advice on what to do next please.....

Hi Guy's I hope today isn't too painful for you? t's the first time I have written into the site, I have a question please.

I have just had the call from work saying they are going to dismiss me due to ill health (as I am off work) They wont give me any clues on what I have to do next, where to go, who to ask for help... They say I should surf the net but due to money I have had to get rid of broadband so doing everything off my mobile but I don't have much space to look for long. Please if anyone of you kind peeps could give me a starting block I would be very grateful. I am receiving SSP from work but not a clue if that will stop and I get dole?

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you so much for your time. xxx

When your SSP stops, if you are still not well enough to work, put in a claim for ESA. If you can work, claim JSA. All the benefits and how to claim are listed on this website.

If you are able to leave your home, try to go to citizens advice or call them for advice about what to do next.

Most libraries have facilities where you can use the internet for a small charge or free. There also may be other facilities that have an internet cafe that you could use. If you haven't got a laptop, many places you should be able to hook your phone up to to save costs on your phone internet usage.

Hope this helps.

Thank you, it's tough at the moment to get out, my Mate has said she will come with her mobile and laptop to do the surfing. I will call the citizens advice, make an appointment. Thanks for this. x

I am surprised that they can dismiss you for ill health. Fibro is a disabilty & not an illness.

You don't say what type of job you are in. I was lucky My employers sorted out my sick pay & then the transfer to the then Incapcity benefit. I still have all my staff benefits & have my pension as well. I would have a word with your personel dept. Tell them you have been diagnosed with fibro & that it is a disabilty & not an illness. They should get you to sign a form (can't remember its proper name) but basically you are giving them permission to contact your GP for medical records. You can ask to see them before they are given to your employer & can omit anything personal from them. Hope this helps. Chin up.
