Reiki Healing as a complimentary aid

I have trained as a Reiki Practioner and found this has been a great help to me. My symptoms have eased a lot, although not ceased, yet. I am not touting for business but feel that this may help many of you as it is a complimentary method that safely encourages your body to help itself and certainly ease pain.

As you probably know, your body has its own ways of getting you to feel something nice or not so nice. The internal energies are often blocked by medication so that the ouch is subdued. I am not explaining it very well. Maybe you can Google Reiki and come to understand it better. I tend to waffle.

It is fascinating and I am often surprised with the sensations and reactions I have and give. For example, a session last Saturday ended with the lovely lady telling me that my hands radiated heat deep inside her and at one stage she felt someone else was working opposite me. Another lady said she felt a calming sensation working away from me towards a colleague who was drawing off the negative energies. There had been two of us at a meditation group when she became overwhelmed by her stress and was having a panic attack. We offered to help and were successful.

Reiki can help you in so many ways and is a gentle method that works alongside meditation and medication. Pets and plants are treatable too.

I have added a photo from a book I like that explains what happens during her Reiki sessions.

I hope this helps you, love and light 😊

With this you don’t do anything and therefore can’t hurt yourself. You can sit or lay down. Go to someone or they can come to you, or even receive it, like you do the radio, as you rest, from the Reiki Practioner who is at their home! Amazing how this works, but it does.

I do need to warn you of two things. For chronic illness it is likely to take a number of sessions, and you can get an adjustment discomfort. Don’t panic, this just means that when your body has compensated for a pain, shall we say in your left knee, then other muscles in your hip or thigh may have tightened to ease that pain. When it’s released it can ache. It doesn’t last if you follow up that session.

Meditation is a very useful tool to help you relax too. I use guided meditation on YouTube free, but you can buy them.

Good luck xxx

Ive had a brief look, I worry about brain fog and cog impairment holding back any progress this might make..sitting for long periods of time would be a bog No No for me Im waiting for a small op on my cocyxx

I realise it sounds unreal, as I would have thought it impossible, but it could help with so much, pain being one of the conditions. Even helping relax you so you don’t fight the anaesthetics, meaning you need less which aids in your recovery from surgery. Also in helping the body accept medication! It’s okay if you don’t feel it’s right for you, but it can get to parts we humans don’t know about yet! Isn’t that crazy! Do read up about it. I have Fibromyalgia too, with a damaged coccyx and brain fog, so I get where you are coming from. Lots of luck and I hope you will have a good result from your surgery.

By the way, a friend has recently told me about how she gave a friend healing when the doctor found a dark mass around her middle. After giving her healing she sent Absentia Reiki every night for a week. She then went in for a scan and no one could find it! She didn’t understand why until my friend explained what she’d done. This lovely lady is very compassionate and, bother brain fog, the opposite of boastful? She was just so pleased and excited for her friend she was fit to burst if she had not told someone. Bless her.

Love and light xxx

I forgot to say, anyone can learn how to do this, just to level one, for themselves. Worth every penny. Big hugs 🤗

Just so you know, Sarah-Jane is a pseudonym as I didn’t want people at work to know I was on here, so I was safe to discuss things. And I won’t be able to offer you Reiki as it goes against policy here. But there are plenty of us around. Maybe check a site that lists people they have checked out for training and insurance? IPHM?

My brother went to Reiki a few times many years ago and he said it was brilliant 👍👍👍

I have to agree. I never thought it would be of so much help to me and others. I am saddened that so few know about this or use it. Doctors and Vets often use it alongside their treatments. Average cost is about £20 - £30 for the hour, which includes the discussions before and after. But it can vary in cost and time. Always go with word of mouth, and evidence of training and insurance. Training on line is NOT possible as you have to be attuned by a Reiki Master by touch. However if you are level 2 I would accept this for animals as the attunements should be enough. Yes we can treat animals, but it’s a little different.

There are associations that have done the checks for you such as IPHM.

Hi Sarah-Jane,

I've worked with Reiki for 17 years now, so glad to hear that you are finding such positive results. I use reiki on a daily basis, and also get an extra boost from my hubby who is also qualified. Xxx

Definitely. One of the major positives about becoming ill is having reiki in my life xxx

Pleased to have inspired you. I am sure you won’t regret it. If you are looking to save money for this long, chronic, illness then you might like to look into a class. It was my local college that ran it in my area. Difficult at first as getting around is my main problem, but I did see results fairly soon. Good luck 😊

I too trained in Reiki, but I no longer use it.

Sarah-Jane profile image
Sarah-Jane in reply toMidori

Hi Midori, did you have any problems with it? I find it hard to place my hands on myself for a length of time but I learned that I can do Absentia Reiki to link front and back of chakras so I only need to visualise each chakra. Did you do level 2?

Midori profile image
Midori in reply toSarah-Jane

No, I only did Level one. I think the attunement didn't 'take'; My teacher was far more interested in the money than ensuring we felt confident and secure in the methods, and it all felt rushed.

Sarah-Jane profile image
Sarah-Jane in reply toMidori

That’s a shame. They are meant to be your mentor afterwards and help you on your way with Reiki one, and more so after Reiki 2. What about contacting them again and saying that the attunment didn’t take, as they should be prepared to repeat it if they are true to Reiki. Without charge.

I accept that this would be difficult to do, just an idea. I can’t attune you as I have not reached Master/Teacher level.

However if you go back to practicing daily, you should still get some benefits from this. But it will take longer. You will need to have faith that this will work. Maybe in your case listening to YouTube Reiki healing and look for receiving healing while you practice would be the best way forward.

Unfortunately there are too many who just see it as a quick and easy way to make money, and there is no real regulation to ensure the standards.

Hazel_Angelstar profile image
Hazel_AngelstarAdministratorFMA UK Staff in reply toSarah-Jane

Sarah Jane... They're is no need to be able to place your hands where you cannot reach.... Reiki flows to where its needed... Wherever you're halls are placed.

I do my daily reiki self-treatments with my hands resting on the front of my body for whole treatment... I find heart & solar plexus positions most comfortable xxx

Sarah-Jane profile image
Sarah-Jane in reply toHazel_Angelstar

Unfortunately there are some that feel it is a quick way to earn money, but it isn’t. I have been available since August last year, and before but not committed, but I have had few takers. I am fully trained to level 2 and insured.

I agree about the hand placements too. However it depends on how you ‘feel’ it works, for your own satisfaction I mean. If you are trying to reach a certain area, say between your shoulder blades and can’t touch the area, the comfort of heat isn’t possible, which would be nice. However I do go on and give myself healing anyway and a hot water bottle is helpful with the instant heat. I have this little niggle when I have been tense.

I have given, for free, Reiki just at someone’s feet and been able to tell them where I felt they were experiencing problems. (I didn’t use those words). And they were surprised and agreed. I love to be able to offer help to people and know I am not making it up. I will give more to others as I can. My charges are for my time and expenses only and are reasonable. I am not going to say how to contact me but there are associations who are trying to make sure that they only put forward names of people they have checked out. I belong to one. They help link us with the people who are in need.

Does not work for fibro sorry Iv tried it and actupuncher dident do a thing

Sarah-Jane profile image
Sarah-Jane in reply to

I have fibromyalgia and I fully understand what you mean, however I am advising you to get this the most cost effective way as it takes many sessions. If you were to pay, say, £25 an hour you would need about 21 sessions, at a guess. Far too expensive. But if you trained, you could give yourself healing daily. I am lazy, so it took me a long time to see any effect. In fact others noticed it before I did. They said ‘you are walking much better today’ I denied it. I didn’t feel less pain, but it was so gradual! I have a wheelchair, sticks, mobility scooter, gadgets galore. I am not saying it’s a cure. I am saying it can help. I will not be benefiting from telling you this. You don’t know me. I am not using my name as I didn’t want work to find out about the legal questions I have asked in the past. I don’t work there anymore. I am a Reiki Practioner. I have given healing for free and payment. I am seeing the results.

However any chronic illness will not be helped with one or two sessions. I wish it did. I am being honest with you. However it can help with so many things. Pain, fatigue, addiction, stress, and the list goes on.

Just put into Google ‘what does Reiki help with?’ and see for yourself.

Agree but serious fibro really bits There is no medical cure for fibromyalgia

Hazel_Angelstar profile image
Hazel_AngelstarAdministratorFMA UK Staff in reply to

there may not be a medical cure - however, that does not mean that some people cannot get some relief from trying different treatments/pain management techniques etc

i am in severe pain 24/7 - but the various things I use help to take the edge off the pain at least on the short term, and I can also do things to help other symptoms.

Hi, I am afraid you are right, however if you can manage to learn how to use Reiki, I do believe that there could be an easing of your troubles. For Reiki to have an effect on a chronic illness, approximately 21 consecutive sessions are probably the best solution, but who can afford that? I am going from a published Reiki Masters comments. I have found it very helpful. I am not cured but I have cut out drugs in the day 25/30 days. But my fm is fairly mild according to the comments here.

in reply toSarah-Jane

Yes good idea to be able to do reiki to your self Most people are struggling to even get help

From PIp You really think they can afford to pay £25 an hour for Unproven help for fibromyalgia If it works for you great, but wouldn’t you think we would all be doing it if it worked for all , I know you are trying to help us and bless you for that

Sarah-Jane profile image
Sarah-Jane in reply to

True but that’s got to start with someone letting you know about what has helped. And I am telling you now. Are you seriously saying that you won’t do something unless others have before you? Reiki is harmless but helpful. Even if it just gives you a good nights sleep.

in reply toSarah-Jane

Sarah I told you didn’t I that Reiki May possibly work for some , Iff so great! it didn’t work for me over a two week period Iv had fibromyalgia for 15 years and Iv got a lot of people close friends with fibromyalgia some that tried it and nothing happed Fibromyalgia is a sickening stinging numbing pain all over the body There is NO CURES on the table Sorry , Sara good luck with you Reiki business xx

I have been thinking about you and about you not getting anything from Reiki as it’s a shame it didn’t work. I was wondering why it didn’t work for you and it brought to mind a situation with my mother.

She was having problems with her shoulder and finally was available for me to treat her. (I hadn’t been trained about Absentia Reiki at the time). She felt the heat radiating from my hands, (above her skin not on). So we were hopeful that this should help.

However I was inexperienced and forgot to warn her of possible kickback. This is as the body adjusts and can cause pain. As one muscle released others, which had compensated, were reacting.

I attempted to treat this resulting pain but I was not experiencing the usual reaction my hands make. I realised that she was blocking me because she now feared kickback. She was not able to trust Reiki for a time. I was wondering whether this happened for you? Or maybe you didn’t click with the Reiki Practioner? Anyway it’s a shame as Fibromyalgia is a pain, literally.

I hope the better weather is helping you currently and you find a way forward to ease your symptoms.
