PIP supporting letter by family member
My OH wrote down what I had wrong with me and all the things he had to do for me and all the difficulties I had. He mentioned those things I did for myself but that took me ages and caused me fatigue and pain. That I had to do exercises ect before I could get up or I could hardly move. He also said he brought me breakfast in bed about an hour and a half before I would want to get up so the medication I take was fully working. He also added that I had gone from someone with a career totally independent and who did everything to someone who was reliant on him for help. He also mentioned things he did that has helped me sort all the medication I am on and that he had to out the Tens machine and pain plasters on as where In had the most pain was inaccessible to me. I can't remember everything as it was 18 months back but that is the main gist.
I don't know whether it helped but in all fairness the assessor did seem to have read it and listened to what he had to say. I do have osteoarthritis and other health problems as well as fibro. I had lower rate care on DLA and got the same when I transferred over to PIP which is what he wrote the letter for. I do hope you are successful. Let us know how you get on.x
Thanks I've been working on the mandatory reconsideration appeal all day. I drafted a letter of sorts. Main problem I was on enhanced mobility as I have osteoarthritis and anxiety too. They have scored 0 this time for the planning a journey. The Hp even lied on the report stating I was calm and understood everything answered clearly so my mental state was good. I was in a terrible state anxious. Stressed and feeling panicky I was so exhausted. We think he filled that bit in later and mixed me up with someone else. So a letter to clear that up hopefully as he kept us waiting 3/4 hr. he was rude to my daughter and told her to stop prompting me. It was an ordeal. So fingers crossed it goes back to enhanced otherwise I lose my car too.
I presume you didn't record the interview as that might have kept him honest. They are running to a schedule or should be and I know the receptionist at the Birmingham centre came in and told my assessor she was running 10 minutes late, probably because I nearly passed out with the pain! That planning a journey descriptor is literally one of the hardest to get any points for and there has been a bit outcry by mental health charities about it so do appeal on that point. It must be awful to have the nightmare hanging over you of losing your mobility car as the £2000 payment they give you doesn't pay for some people's adaptations let alone a car. Do hope you win. If you do have to go to tribunal about 68% of people are winning so s very high proportion. Good luck.x
Thanks, I am planning to send off the form and letters in the morning, not sure if I should ring as well. I haven't been able to get to the doctors for a while so hopefully, I can get an appointment this week she might be able to write a support letter. Will let you know how MR goes just not feeling hopeful at the minute.
