Hi.
I have just been recently diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and wondered if you can claim DLA?
Still learning about what Fibromyalgia is but someone mentioned that I could claim it but thought I would ask on here first.
Thanks

Hi!
Welcome to the group. You'll find lots of interesting bit on here about Fibro. I was diagnosed last October and I'm still learning about it.
DLA is now Personal Independence Payment. (Even Universal Credit in some areas). You can claim but remember it's how your daily life is affected, not what condition you have.
Hi Fran I am sorry you have been diagnosed with fibro but pleased you have find your way to us. As Jurph said, having fibro does not automatically qualify you for benefits, it is how it impacts on your life that is taken into account. If you need further advice or help with claiming benefits then I suggest you contact your local CAB or you could contact Janet the FMAUK benefits advisor. The link below will take you to her contact details and also contains other links you may find useful:

In the meantime welcome to the forum, you will find lots of help and support from our friendly members plus there is lots of useful information and links on our main site so you may like to take a look at this at some point:
I would just like to mention about locking your posts. You don't have to but many of our members are not too keen on responding to unlocked ones therefore you are likely to receive more replies if you do, as it prevents the whole thread being read by internet search engines. Instructions on how to do this can be found on the link below but if you get stuck please don’t hesitate to ask for help.

Hi Fran84
Welcome and sorry to hear of your recent diagnosis. I remember how I felt when newly diagnosed with so little information however you should find this community both informative and supportive.
As members have mentioned DLA is not PIP and here's a link to a Disability Rights UK factsheet to learn more

If you need to discuss your financial circumstances to find out what you are eligible for you can either visit your local Citizen Advice Bureau or you can visit Turn2Us, link below
They have either an online benefits calculator or you can speak to Turn2Us in confidence via their helpline.
I look forward to speaking to you around the community
All the best
Emma
