Just been diagnosed

Hi there was diagnosed on Monday by my GP.. after weeks of going to doctor and blood test s my doctor told me I had fibromyalgia and gave me a leaflet to take home said there was no point in referring me as he knows its fibromyalgia and there really is no point ...I asked him if he thinks I would eventually be able to go back to work and he said I doubt it...I then asked if I will get back to normal and he shrugged his shoulders ...I then burst in to tear as I have a job I love .. I work for myself doing cleaning and have a lovely clientele which I've been doing for 5 years I feel in despair... he has put me on25 mg of pregabalin twice a day and told me to stop tramadol and co codamal.... but right now I am in a lot of pain all over my body but not sure if I can take a tramadol to help with the pain as I my next appointment is in two weeks .... any advice would be much appreciated and thank you for reading my post xx

Yes my main problems are weakness in my legs ( they run out of power) bad days are pain all over and fatigue - but I am drug free now - it's hard but I couldn't cope with side effects of the drugs instead I pace - rest , work, rest, work and I try not to stress I also am wheat free gluten free , no process foods and I swim , walk Finley everyday aqua, and will start yoga end September - more pain when I sit so I tend to stay on the move -. I had to retire got overload - I wish you the best -. x

Yes diet is a great way to relive some of the symptoms, I eat also no process food, (this has also meant that I have lost weight and this has also helped) have cut out caffeine, and take multi vits and have B12 injections, I do still work full time but have a very understanding boss. I do take co-codamol, Amatriptylin and find that if I keep doing a little bit of walking every day I am a lot better that if I do nothing when I then get sore and stiff and feel even worse. I am determined not to let this beat me and will keep moving every day to try and keep it at bay.

You sound very positive I will definitely try all of the above with the diet thankyou

I thought you needed to see a rheumatologist for a diagnosis? But your doctor sounds positive. I am sorry I can't answer you about taking tramadol or cocodamol with pregabalin. A pharmacist ought to be able to advise you about that.

in reply toMariLiz

I did too my partner is coming with me on the 29 th to the doctors and says his gonna insist on a referral thankyou

You can take Tramadol & Co codamol with Lyrica. You can't take Tramadol & Co codamol together though so it's one or the other along with the Lyrica. I've taken morphine & Lyrica together for years. Lyrica is a neuropathic painkiller. I was diagnosed by a rheumatologist & it took me a year going privately so you did well to get diagnosed so quickly on the NHS. Take Care. Bec

Hi there bec thanks for letting me know that about the medication ... your pain must be bad to be on morphine ... I need to start making negatives into positives and being diagnosed that quick sounds is a positive .... just where I've always been so active and all of a sudden I can't walk it's scary for me ... hope you are having a good day 😊x

in reply to

Thank you. The morphine isn't for fibro. But what I really meant was that you can take other strong painkillers with Lyrica :) x

The pregabalin can be increased. I am on 600mg a day, split in to 2 doses. You usually see a Rheumatologist for Fibro. And you can be referred to the pain clinic. Just do lots of research and everyone's symptoms can be different. But you seem to have a well informed GP. when I was diagnosed My GP knew nothing!! I have had Fibro for over 20 years xx

Hi fudge57 hope you are doing ok... my doctor diagnosed me after only seeing him twice the last time after I went to A&E... ( they thought I could maybe have Me and said I need a referral from my GP)he felt my neck and fingers and said he new I had fibromyalgia and I didn't need a referral and to go back on 29th Aug.... i was in tears he was horrible....

Dreading going back to him but I did insist I wanted a referral which he said in the end he would write off but wasn't happy about it

I haven't been able to walk since last Friday ... thank you about medication info xx

Flower if you mean you literally can't walk it likely something more than fibro? If you mean you can t walk without pain and aching but can walk with those symptoms that's different.

Hi ... no what I mean is I shuffle really slowly ... don't know why but my legs just won't walk properly... I walk like I'm 90 .... oh and pain too ... going back to docs today not sure what he can do x
