Sorry to hear that you got the diagnosis, but it must be a relief to know what is going on with your body. At least you can now learn how to manage your condition. It is really about learning to accept, pace and put yourself first. I personally have never been to a fibromyalgia clinic (don't think they existed when I was diagnosed!!) But hopefully someone else may have experience they can offer you. I imagine they will help to suggest ways of dealing with fibromyalgia, maybe different medications, and therapies. Take care xxx

Bet it’s a relief to finally get diagnosed? Not something we want to be diagnosed with but at least it’s been confirmed. I’m still trying to get them to officially confirm it. No idea about the clinic but hope it helps. Please let me know because I will have to ask about that to see if anything near me. Hope you not too bad x

i'd think most other places would call it a pain clinic ?, they teach you various ways of coping with fibro

Yea I think it's the same thing as pain clinic

Ah I see. Yes I have been to them years ago. They went over alot of questions. I tried all sorts of meds to no avail. Have been on paracetamol and amitriptyline since. Pacing myself is very difficult. I still work ,only part time though. I wouldn't go back to the pain clinic but the only reason is nothing works for me. Others may benefit though.

Hi Inola sorry to hear you too have this awful condition to learn to live with. I went to a pain clinic when I was first diagnosed in 2012, there were some aspects I found really helpful like learning how to pace, and there were things that made me worse like graded exercise but you won't know until you try we are all affected in different ways and can tolerate different treatment plans. I for instance can't tolerate most medication yet I know of others who take a whole host of prescription drugs for their fibro. I prefer to use complementary therapies and yoga to manage stress which in turn eases fibro symptoms. It's a long road of self discovery but it's not the end of the world, it is possible to have a life with fibro. Xxx

I was diagnosed with fibro in September 2015, it was in a Pain Clinic session with a group. It was quite shocking to think it was the first time I had heard of it and came directly from the consultant leading the group. I actually stood up and asked questions from the others about their symptoms and they were all similar to mine. I was quite shocked to find out this way but on the other hand finally having a diagnosis to work with was a step in the right direction. It is good to be with others in a group to finding out ways to soothe your ailments and the variations of expertise to help with your symptoms and source pain relief medications. It helps different people in varying degrees and worthwhile attending to give you whatever relief you can from this awful disease. Best wishes in the coming weeks and months.
