Lonely
Hi I don't live on the IOW I'm afraid, but I'm sorry you're feeling so lonely, hopefully there will be someone on here who lives on the island x
Just a thought... have you investigated if there is a local fibromyalgia support group on the island you could go along to? I am also sure that there is someone on this forum who also lives on the island, hopefully they will get in touch with you soon xx
Hi thanks for replying. There is a fibromyalgia group in Ryde about 20mins away. I’ve tried to go but cannot seem to summon the bravery for it . Hope your alright?
I know there is one, it’s just doing it isn’t it. But grateful for your reply. Hope your not in too much pain
Hi Diane hopefully when summer comes it will help your mood a bit, I would have thought where you are is lovely in summer take care x
Hi Dianne, I am not a resident of the IOW but I know it can get lonely when you move to a new place and don't know anyone. Have you got a local library as they are normally a good place to start to find out about community activities where you can meet people, things like Reading Groups etc and and maybe some volunteering opportunities if you feel up to it. I actually met one of my friends because we both frequented the same cafe for years where we would get our morning cuppas on the way to work and we just ended up chatting one day. I know it can be a bit scary getting out their on your own so I wish you well lovely, good luck. x
I know there are people on the forum who are from the Isle of Wight and I have a feeling there is a support group. You can find out if there is a support group by contacting Fibromyalgia UK. If you press your moniker which will be in the too right hand side of the and at the top and scroll down you will see "people near me feature" and you might find someone else with fibro lives very near and might be happy to meet more be a PM or phone friend. Good luck.x
Hi
Welcome to the normally lovey sunny Isle of Wight
Their is a support group who meet in Ryde which is not far fro East Cowes
hi Dianne,
sorry to hear that you are feeling so lonely and isolated since your move. There are a few support groups on the isle of wight - you can get their contact details by contacting the RC using the web form
fmauk.org/contactsmenu/supp...
a way to make new friends and a fibro support network at the same time. xxx
Evening there is a fibro support group islefindit.org.uk/listings/... not too sure how far you are from this , or is there a community hall nearby they seem to have events going on i.e. Coffee mornings people selling crafts produce that take place once a week. Glad to see you have posted again there might be some members reading your post that live in your area, I visited as a child it's a lovely place to live , I'm sure lots of events will take place doing the warmer months as well. Take care xx
It sounds to me as if you have the New Home Blues. Moving is one of the most stressful things you can do and often there is an element of depression in a new area, specially until you manage to find your way round. If you are nervous about venturing out, why not contact the Fibro Group and see if anyone would visit you at home, so at least you'd know someone when you pluck up the courage to attend a meeting. I am faced with a similar problem too, as I'm planning a move from Hampshire to West Wales probably in late Spring or early summer. The area will be strange, but there are friends there for me.
