Well here it is the little crab we found on the beach, we were told he was not dead he or she had just crawled out of his shell leaving behind his gills, which they will re grow again along with his shell, he was very surprised as the man from the small sea life centre that children and adults can go too on the north bay said it is very unusual to see one that is completely intact like it was missing no claws.
Well I hope you like it Blue sorry we missed you shall have to try harder for next week-end as we are going to Wolsingham again it will be the last time as the site closes boo hoo say OH.
Hope you all had a good week-end

Morning Hun. So now crabby has to play hide n seek, Boo. Ha ha. Yep it’s back, I’m coming for a sleep over on Friday, then hubs can’t leave me behind lol. Xx
Well, I’ve learnt something today, thank you for that! It’s very educational on here. It makes a nice change from fibro. Love and hugs xx 😄
It's called moulting they do each year to grow bigger sometimes more than once food/weather dependant as once shell hardens they can't grow any bigger so they have to peel as we call them they start a chemical process to split the shell as they change to green shore crabs do anyway they give off a scent that fish love! as smooth hounds and rays home in on them
The females peel first then males later(Females wide flap underneath males narrow)you often find them paired male above female when they have peeled.
as there soft till new shell harden.
Down on south coast get spider crabs that come enmass from likes of the med once water warms up to peel etc it's like a carpet of them under water as they crawl along eating anything they find!
once they peel the rays like sting rays and undulates float along drop on top and off there there heads as they eat the spider crabs
I knew someone would be able to tell me more, wow that must be a site to see all of those spider crabs, where a bouts on the south coast are you? love the way the sting rays move but I also love to eat skate wings its the only fish I put vinegar on strange that. so thank you for the extra info.
Check you tube for vids on spider crabs or dive videos it's like an army down there with them they trundle over then back later.
Friend was telling me about the rays floating along then whack of with the spider crabs bonce! brings everything into a freenzy once they peel as everything moves in for a feed on the bits.
Mind spider crabs make good eating pay a few quid in a restaurant for them!
