Hello All, i am new here. i wondered if anyone experiences the feelings of freezing and burning up. Similar to the chills and fevers when you have the flu only no sickness. i am constantly going through cycles of this as well as waking up 2 to 3 times nightly soaking wet. this is new to me i am generally cold or get cold easily so this whole change up is really disturbing.

Yes many fibromites complain if this I say that my thermometer has only two settings boiling or freezing I don't seem to have anything in between. I layer my clothes because of that. I can also have freezing legs, boiling feet and a warm top half.x

Hi kriss1, welcome to our lovely, friendly site. It's a pleasure to meet you Hun. Yes like you I get extremes of temperature and waking up a few times in the night. It's very frustrating isn't it? X

Yes the amount of times I can be sweating buckets even though it’s cold - I just say I’m having a hot flush - you do became more sensitive to changes in termperture too

For the moment I seem to have moved away from the too cold and am constantly too hot ---- but that could change at any time. I've found the only thing to do is wear layers. Strangely, I've been more stable since lighting the log burner each day and avoiding the central heating, but that could be entirely unrelated.

Very uncomfortable if a room is too warm, feel as if I can't breathe, as in visiting hospital yesterday.

Oh, yes, I went through this. This was when my thyroid hormones were both too low and at the bottom of the range. I also have Hashimoto's. I was not given medication in the begging and at that time, I didn't have temperature problems. I went untreated for many months. Over that time, my thyroid hormones dropped severely. My body temperature constantly went from too cold to too hot. For me, mainly I was too cold. Have you had your thyroid thoroughly checked?

I don't know what your age or sex is, but is it possible that this could be hormone fluctuation? Menopause or testosterone problems?

Welcome to the community. These symptoms have been occurring for me over a period of year's . its only now I have started to have further investigation supported by my doctor with blood tests . They have given me some tables which have suppored my temperature getting too hot. Which has so improved however I still go freezing cold. You should talk to your GP and have some blood test arranged. Good luck and big hug. Xx

Hi sweetie I had this earlier on in the year and I would wake up in the morning soaking wet my hair pjs and my bed linen. I had all sorts of blood tests done and everything came back clear. My gp could not tell me what it was. Over a period of time it went away and now just the last few days it’s back but not as bad. I have tried to google it but I still cannot get a full explanation to what it really was. I truly hope that it doesn’t last to long for you or you can find out the cause of it. Take good care of yourself sweetie. 🤗🤗🤗🌹🌹🌹xxx

Yes, I too have experienced this sort of thing over the last year or two. Even though I keep the house cool I still break out in heatwaves while I do housework quite slowly. And I almost always experience cold sweats across my shoulders/upper back even when I am fairly still, not to mention waking at night in a saturated state. But strangely, only intermittently, throughout the year. I find eating early (4:00/5:00 pm) helps. And try to keep sugar out of the menu. Good luck to you.

Hi Kriss welcome to the forum, from one Kriss to another! I suffer from temperature changes so much so that I joke my personal thermostat is broken. I dress in layers so I can keep warm or strip off as necessary. My thyroid and hormones are fine, I guess it’s one of Fibro’s special “gifts” to me. Well thanks indeed!

Hi Kriss

I too have the hot and cold flashes. I am 63, female and have had them since I was 48. At age 54, while on Femara (for cancer) I had them real bad for the 5 year course, but after finishing that med. they never went away! I never attributed them to the fibromyalgia, but after listening to all you wonderful people from “across the pond” am realizing it may contribute largly to this problem.

I wear a tank top in the winter and keep taking the sweatshirt off and on. I keep it so cool in the house in the winter, I think even the cats are cold.
