From what I have read some people will be worse of, but not everyone will. Contact your local CAB who may be able to work out what you would receive under UC.

Some people are actually better off on Universal credit but unfortunately in the press as with most things in life we only hear the horror stories. I think it has been rushed in and not perhaps worked out as well as it could be. Like any new benefit there are bound to be teething problems. It does look complex with sums being added for this that and the other and taken away for other things. If you are awarded it and it is less than you expected it would always be good to get someone like CAB to do a calculation as the benefit agencies have been known to get things wrong.x

I receive ESA but I've not heard about Universal Credit! I'd better look into it. I won't mention it to my husband just yet, he already feels he's got to work all hours. I don't want him to feel anymore pressure!

All I have heard of this U/C is all bad with people waiting for anything between 6-12 weeks for any kind of payment. I dread it happening here

I was asked if I wanted to go on it last year in the first batch but after the hassle I had with pip I said no thank you they even rang and asked. I have not a lot of faith in the DWP to do the right thing ,not because f the people assessing your paperwork but because the criteria they are having to work to , my children are on it as individuals and single but my son has had all sorts of issues. One department sent him a cheque for £500.00 another dept said he'd been overpaid £500.00 it says it all really.

Madness.
