Thankyou

I claim it because my health affects my ability to work full time. It tops my wages up. When you declare you have a health condition, you have to go for a Workplace Assessment. Be prepared for a battle though. I've been waiting since September to go to tribunal.

Right I got you.Do you get pip?

I'm not looking forward to a battle then

I was diagnosed with fibro 24 years ago

Have had mental health issues since childhood,

And other things.

I'm in 2 minds now

I do. Higher rate for both. I really don't want to put you off, just wanted to warn you. My best advice is to get help filling in the form. Think about what your like on your worst day and don't play down any mental health issues. Please don't be put off by my experiences, my case is fairly complicated.

Good Luck!!

Hello Africanmonkey.I'm glad you get both.

It's awful isn't it.

Ive had fibromyalgia for 24 years.

I hope I get it.

Do you mind me asking if it was a difficult process?

Africanmonkey profile image
Africanmonkey in reply to Bertjolly

Well for me it wasn't difficult as my Dr gave a good report for me. But I think it was my walking that was the main point as it started off in my legs

Oh I'm sorry , I hope your doing okay.I don't really know the doctors at my surgery as only been there a year.

But notes should say an awful.lot.

I'm just scared the gp won't help with certificates.

I'm stressing already , not even applied yet

Africanmonkey in reply to Bertjolly

Oh no you must apply as for me it has just about paid for the rent so it's a big help what ever you get

Hi Bertjolly.

I have Fibromyalgia diagnosed in 2020, just started claiming universal credit 4months ago as I haven’t been able to work since then.

With only my hubby’s income we fall under low income (which I understand you can claim universal credit if you are on low income- I may be wrong) been submitting fit notes for 4months. Had a UC50 form a month ago but haven’t heard anything from them.

I was denied PiP twice in the past but I have just sent the forms again as am really really struggling.

Wishing you well x

Hello MathexThankyou for answering .

I hope you get pip. You should really.

I do recieve it luckily as we only have my partners wage too.

I had no idea I could try and claim it.

Stopped working 4 years ago, There's no way I could go back.

I'm a just over middle aged lady so a few years to actual retirement.

I have extreme anxiety, and already nervous about applying for it.

Once I apply online then I have no idea what to say to my gp. I keep worrying that I won't get the certificates even though my health has an awful lot on it and the amount of medications.

So do you not fill the UC50 when you apply online?

X

Aww try not to stress too much as that can worsen the symptoms. Thank you I hope I get it this time

When we applied for universal credit we only filled in online application and it was paid the following month. UC50 forms were sent out in paper form.

I believe I will at some point be given an appointment for assessment after which they will decide whether to award Limited Capability for Work Related Activity (LCWRA) or they award Limited Capability Work(LCW) no extra pay and will be asked to look for work

Hope all goes well for you x

Hi Bertjolly, yes I am on UC because of fibromyalgia

Bertjolly profile image
Bertjolly in reply to petthio

Hello petthio Thankyou .

Is it just fibromyalgia you get UC for?

Are you getting pip aswell?

Hope your okay with me asking x

petthio profile image
petthio in reply to Bertjolly

It's just UC like normal payment as couple and limited capability for work. Pip is when you know that you won't work anymore.

Bertjolly profile image
Bertjolly in reply to petthio

Ok well I'll apply for it then Eeeeeeek

petthio profile image
petthio in reply to Bertjolly

And just to let you know that if you apply UC as a couple your husband or partner will be on the application too and afterwards the UC payment will be reduced depending on your husband or partner's income.

PIP is for anyone who has health issues that cause them problems with everyday life. You are eligible whether you’re working or not. It also doesn’t matter how much you earn, as it’s not means-tested.

I’m not sure how PIP relates to other benefits though. x

You should use a benefits calculator to find out whether it is worth applying for Universal Credit. benefits-calculator.turn2us...

It will tell you whether your partner's income means you are not eligible, as Universal Credit is means tested. The calculator will also tell you whether you are eligible for other help, with Council Tax etc.
