Hi Bertjolly, I am on universal credit now, nearly a year , after a long period of not working due to fibro and other. I applied with partner as he did part-time hours. I had to send in monthly sick notes for about 4 or 5 months, and I filled out form, for limited to work, due to illness, with all information from docs and hospital, and then was awarded it and didn't have to send in any more sick notes. Speak to your work coach and ask about it, if you have filled out form, it's just waiting till they sort it out. Take care x
Hi Bertjolly, just ask doc or receptionist nearer the time for a sick note, they should give you one then for longer. I am the same, Ive had fibro for 18 years, before Cfs in my 20s, tryed working but couldn't. I never claimed any mind of benefits for fibro, like you I am nervous person, and docs where lived didn't really believe in it, and had so much trouble with Cfs in 20s, people being horrible to me, I didn't want to go thy that again. . My partner applied and I didn't know, because of his part time work, I cried first, thinking about going through all of it , but they turned out nice, and sent form back, had an assessment on phone, by a lovely person, and was awarded it, i was soo surprised and happy. You will be ok, and hope sorted soon for you, so no sending sick notes and get help you need with benefits. Sorry long text, hand slowing down now, 🤣, that's the fibro, it's terrible can't do much writing now. Take care. x
Hi 😊 You've been really kind sending all this. And with painful hands too.
I'm sorry you've had horrible times from people via your illness. It's truly awful.
But I'm glad your getting all you deserve now x
I've worked all my life till 4 years ago , my mum had severe mental health issues ie electric shock treatment twice.
I grew up to be a extremely anxious child and adult. I've had lots of counselling but being honest it doesn't work. I am dealing with depression too. Plus the fibromyalgia. The muscle pain i have is debilitating.
I've never claimed anything for this and didn't know I could .
I'll contact the GP a day before my certificate runs out, fingers crossed I get it.
I don't know what to say , maybe I just ask for it to be continued.
Hiya. I am on universal credit and after a while of sending on sick notes, it triggered a health capability assessment. From this, I was deemed to have limited capability to work. I have now left my job and have another telephone assessment to see if I can get the limited capability to work related activity which means I wont need to look for work. have you just gone onto universal credit?
Hi Bertjolly, so you gone through alot and still going through things. Know alot about mental health problems, my late mum had for 7 years in my early teens, in lots of institutions and hospitals and all because of additive tablets, which we helped wean her off, and get her back to mum in 20s, she had a better life then. I always think fibro and other illnesses, stem from our childhoods and stressed things we have been through, and like you, talking and counselling didn't work, just got on with it myself in end, and learnt to live with it, and manage day to day. I know you will get there, you seem a strong person, as you have gone through alot, so you will be ok. x
Hi Bertjolly, yes contact me when like always here, nice to chat to someone, after 25 years of relationship, I've ended up on own, so very lonely, and a new town, so friends and family Bach home. Lovely talking to you, speak again if like on anything. x
No they are quite straight forward. They just ask you questions about your mobility and ability to do certain things. Mental health. I got a really nice health nurse on the phone. Just he honest and answer them on how you are on your worst day. It is worthwhile making an appointment with the citizens advice beaurau to see what you are eligible for. I also get adult disability payment which is pip in Scotland. They do recognise fibromyalgia as a disability.
