I was put in the support group of ESA by the dr I saw for my assessment and he couldn’t have been nicer and so understanding, I was informed of the decision two days later.

Do you think he would have put in his report how long this should be awarded for, I’m afraid to ring and ask incase it comes to their attention and they stop it or something.

When you have a letter that normally tells you how long it has been awarded for. I am really pleased for you.x

That sounds a bit unusual as its not the doctor who carries out assessment for esa that puts you in support group or awards you esa. It done by a decision maker in the dwp

Sorry I meant that the Dr told me he was going to recommend that I be put in the support group, I’ve been in it for about 18 months now and don’t know if I should be expecting it to be reviewed, I have been diagnosed with nine different things wrong with me which often overlap each other I have also been told by various consultants that it’s highly unlikely that any of them will improve but could possibly deteriorate.

I hope you are right in what you say.

In my case i am originally from Ireland,, and the person who carried out my assessment was also Irish. He left me with the impression at my assessment that i would be left on the support group as i was already on it. He turned out to be a 'wolf in sheeps clothing'. I ended up doing a complaint to the independent case reviewer in relation to my assessment, and also had a complaint logged against him, as what he was writing in his report was completely inaccurate, yet he was telling me everything was fine.

Best of luck with you, and hope you get the right result.

That must have been so disappointing for you, yes the Doctor sappeared true to his word as two days later I had a letter saying I had been awarded the support element of ESA , but I’m wondering for how long as that wasn’t on the letter and I’m to nervous to ring to find out that was eighteen months ago.

They will no longer tell you when you are due to be re-assessed for ESA. They just say they can choose to do so at any time. In practice claims in the WRAG and Support Group are regularly reviewed for eligibility between 3 months and 3 years after initial assessment, based on the prognosis given at the previous WCA. But this prognosis is not shared with the claimant any more.

Don't know if this helps but I was put in the support group 2 years ago and am just about to send back my review ESA50 form. Then its a waiting game and stress again.

Thanks hebden is the review form like the first one we had to complete when first making a claim.

I see the one that was on TV he could tell this n that from miles away and ones too fat to wipe there bums etc was gloating he'd made this much to an under cover reporter! got his rear smacked and on report with medical people mind probably won't mean much in the end!

I rang about my pip the other day as I was given my diagnosis. They have sent out forms for me to fill in again but I also got forms to fill for esa, not sure if they automatically send this out or if my was is due for renewal. But here we go again, let's see if I am awarded it again or not.
