Morning all you lovely people, hope you all managed to sleep.
Do you all have flu jabs? The last time I had one, I felt so I'll for about a week so I'm some what reluctant. I know I should because the last thing I want is full blown flu on top of everything else.
What should I do?????

I was wondering this too. I asked at the doctors about having this and whether it is free to fibro patients. They are going to let me know, even if it isnt free I might have it anyway. As you said I dont want full blown flu on top of the everything else.
I had mine 10 days ago and had no ill effects this time.
You can't catch flu from the jab, as it is a dead virus, but it can give you a reaction to the vaccine which is flu like for 24 - 48hrs. It won't be as severe as flu, but might hang around longer in people with fibro. I recommend having it soon, as it takes 2 weeks to work.
A couple of years ago, I caught flu in early October and went to to develop pneumonia, followed by pleurisy and ended up in hospital. I was very fortunate that the quick action by a young doctor prevent me getting full blown septicemia.
In my mind, any reaction from the jab is worth the protection it offers. Ok, it doesn't give you complete cover, but it's better than nothing, as Flu can do a lot of damage your heart, not to mention being fatal.
The nurse asked about the jab. I think the GP surgeries can get a fee. Anyway I said no.
Not sure why people shy off their flu jabs really, as a retired nurse seeing people of ALL ages catch flu is scarey- it is a killer virus and this years is said to be one of the worst. Nobody wants flu full blown or otherwise and especially fibro sufferers, for the sake of a few days of a sore muscle; which can be relieved with something like voltarol/ibuprofen gel, I would say get it done, I am not old enough nor considered "at risk" so I have to pay for mine.
Hi. Had my flu jab yesterday. I get mine free as I have quite a few health problems. I am glad I have the jab as If I got the flu on top of ever other ailment I have I don't know how my body would suffer. I even try hard to keep cold free.
I've got type 2 diabetes which makes me eligible for a free flu jab. Yet to be diagnosed with fibromyalgia and/or CFS but both are suspected.
Anyway, I've had full blown flu (prior to diabetes diagnosis) and was off work for 2wks followed by a few weeks of still not feeling right.
I had my flu jab at the weekend for the 3rd year running and so far I've avoided stinking colds too. I had a little bit of swelling and the area around the injection was hot and my arm usually aches for a few days. But my left arm is now painful and achey anyway (poss due to fibromyalgia).
I was told it contained 4 strains this year as opposed to the usual three so I guess there's a higher probability of getting flu if you're more susceptible and not vaccinated.
Ultimately, it has to be your decision but I'd weigh up the pro's and cons, especially if you have any other medical conditions. x
Did you have blood tests done to prove it was the flu vaccine? The vaccine is a DEAD injection it sits dormant in your system until you come in contact with the virus
