I'm suppose to have a knee replacement done on my left knee but the orthopaedic surgeon thinks I should do it in a couple of years if i can hold out because he said which I also agree because of my fibro it wouldnt make a difference regarding pain and it could make the pain worse...sorry you are going through this...
My aunt had the inj in both knees and she was happy with the results this was a few years back. Her knees do need replacing but she's not having any of it.😲. Chris x
Hello hun- I too have very painful knees, my rheumatologust tells me that knee replacing isnt always the answer IF the muscles above are flakey and poor, you need some help from a physio who will give you excercise to do that will pump up those leg muscles, I do it daily and more rigourously in the hydro pool, the muscles will then take over the joints, I dont know if you like tennis? Rafael Nadal has had both knees replaced under 30 years of age, you may have noticed how pumped up his muscles are- he has done this under the supervision of a specialist physio and he swears by hydro.
I had similar after my op for over a year then it stopped and my knee is thankfully now pain free and stable - in theory you should be able to go straight back to the hospital rather than GP (we can in Wales even though I've now been completely discharged after 3 years of followups) - ring the consultant's secretary and speak to them. They can at least see if the joint/post is still in the right place.
I must admit my knee pain post op once I'd recovered from the surgery was more to do with my FM than anything and most likely to do with the nerves in the soft tissue - nerves can be damaged in the op (in my case I reckon it then exacerbated the pain) - I bought a back on track knee support as they have other properties than just support and it had a great effect on my knee in warming it (something to do with the ceramic woven in to it so heat from your knee reflects back in to the knee) - I only ever wear it if I do a long walk just in case.
Another thing I did was I kept up with the strengthening exercises and they helped heaps.
