Pip claim

Hi applied for pip and got no points at all despite saying I'm unable to get in bath by myself I fall without any warning some days can't even get out of bed some days and answered a lot of different questions I looked on Internet for how they award points only to discover according to the questions and my answers I should have been awarded points thinking of appealing but I'm so sore and feel as if they think nothing is wrong with me but to be honest my life I used to have is slowly slipping away so what does other people think

Do ask for a Mandatory reconsideration and a copy of your assessment. Do go through it with a fine tooth comb as it is amazing what mistakes they make and the way they ignore evidence. Try and get some help from someone like the CAB. Often the people who score O points are the ones that win at tribunal.

Good luck with it, don't give in a that is what they want you to do.x

Hi

No points are awarded for needing help getting in and out of bath but if you need help washing yourself or drying yourself or use a bath seat you will be given points .

I know it sounds crazy but that's how they score .

Same with needing help getting in and out of bed

Not a question so no points

Need help getting dressed or undress or use any aids or special clothes points will be awarded

I agree with advice given by rosewine

Sounds pretty unfair to me and also if you need help getting out the bath then you should have got some points, as there is a question which relates to something to do with getting washed (sorry, I cant remember exactly what it was).

I would imagine that if your fibro is sufficiently severe that you need help geting out of the bath then you should (if they applied the criteria correctly and conducted the assessment correctly) have been awarded the care component of PIP at soem level.

I agree that you should seek mandatory reconsideration. But get some expert help in doing this. Also remember that supporting medical letters and other docs can make all the difference.

best wishes

It's worth appealing if you think you should have received at least 8 points or more, otherwise it's not worth it. Hope you have a lovely weekend 😊

As advised definitely appeal, the questions are designed to trip claimants up and make them give up. Add any additional relevant information. Remember over fifty percent win on appeal. So stick with it!

I competed the forms sent them off

Nil points

I Appealed ad got help rewording the forms from a local charity’s staff member

Awarded full care and basic mobility.

It’s not what’s said on the form, its the words used.

One Example

I wrote

I can’t get on the bus I have raynauds in my hands and feet.

She wrote

it is unsafe to use public transport as poor grasps and unsteady footing cause stability issues that result in falls.

Basically having a diagnoses means little for claiming pip.

As those that mark don’t look up illnesses and diseases they just award points for

Risk of fall

Unable to hold hot pan

Unable to hold towel to dry

Hope this helps with why you may of received no points.

Basically fill the form in a way that you would explain your issues to a child.

Rayuands means nothing to a child . But tell them your hands hurt to much to hold on when then bus stops . And they easily get the picture .

Ask for a mandatory reconsideration, also a copy of assesers report & worth getting in touch with CAB. The descriptor for washing and bathing (score out of 8); if you need assistance from another person to be able to get in or out of a bath or shower =3.

It's worth asking for them to look at the decision again,as your probably aware, there is a time limit for doing this, while your waiting, get as much evidence for your claims. Even if it is a letter from your GP.

Don't despair, it's not the final decision, as others have stated most people do well in a tribuneral. They want you to give up.

Good luck!

Let us know how you get on.

That right Neon king, it's not what you have been diagnosed with, it's how it affects your daily life, wording your answers, is a goodidea. The CAB,are really helpful & know how to word thier answers.

Hi. Oh that's so unfair. If I were you I would appeal. Did you ask your Doctor to support your claim?

I do hope if you appeal they take notice of you this time.
